I have to say... I'm not really sure. I guess it could be cool, and I know it's a spinoff and everything so the lack of stealth and change of gameplay can make sense, but uh... It just doesn't look very Metal Gear-y in any way except that it involves Raiden.
I know they said that for whatever reason, setting the game between MGS2 and MGS4 couldn't work (I don't really get why, but whatever), so they had to change it to post-MGS4 even though MGS4 was designed to end the series, so that's also something to think about, I guess.
I suppose I'm tentatively excited about this game. If the story is on the same level of weirdness as the MGS games, it could be okay, I suppose.

Potential Game of the Ever It's a pure action game with Platinum at the helm, at the very least it'll be a competitor for best action game, along with Bayonetta and DMC3.
After viewing the trailer a second time, I have to say how I find it funny that they mentioned the cut anything mechanic, but you still need to slap your enemies with your sword a few times before you can actually cut them.

Typed a lot on it back in that topic from when the trailer leaked, but yeah. Simply put, biggest disappointment involving a game I was looking forward to in quite a while.
Kojima productions is my favorite game studio, and what they had planned for Rising I was all on board with. Platinum Games is not one of my favs, Vanquish and Bayonetta I find decent, but pretty shallow compared to Kojima stuff, in both gameplay and story.
Plus even for fans who love their stuff, its just not a great fit for MGS, especially the story and tone. And of course, setting it after MGS4 and completely throwing the plot and characterizations of MGS out the window, it's now a game I'm gonna put up with rather than one I'm looking forward to.

Anyone who thinks it looks bad probably cared way too much about MGR being "the next MGS game" which is a really dumb thing to have thought and they should feel bad.
Also those people are the reason ZOE3 will never come out. All they care about is MGS and they won't ever be satisfied with a non-MGS game from Kojima until he runs the series into the ground FF-style because he doesn't know any other way to stop making MGS games.

Kojima is a genius but he's wasted with the MGS series. Do something else FFS. let this series go. I'm honestly sick to death of MGS games. More so it's fanbase.

I don't know why I'm bothering to explain myself to you. But yes, me explaining my tastes and reasons for being disappointed is a lot less close minded than your dismissing anyone with different taste than your own.
For the record, what I was expecting was indeed different from the MGS games, but also a lot different from what it's become under Platinum, and the former idea which was much more ambitious happens to appeal a lot more to me.
Your style of posting here, for example, lets say there was a post your favorite ice cream flavor topic, somebody says they don't dig strawberry they love coffee, your response "lol".

There is one thing that I'm really concerned about, though. It's that a lot of the action in that trailer looks like cutscenes and not gameplay. Cutscenes are great and all, but then you saw the actual gameplay and it looked nowhere near as good as the cutscenes.

As far as being a Metal Gear, it looks bad. For an action game? Pretty good. I expect a narrative as bad as is typical for an action game, but it looks like a weird mix of Vanquish and Bayonetta. Can't go wrong there.

you had your metal gear rpg already. two of them in fact, acid 1 and 2. not every metal gear game needs to be the same genre, style, or anything. now sure, the spinoffs weren't considered that great, but none of them were a studio with the level of quality that platinum games has shown they can and will deliver on. hell, they delivered on plot in one of the longest rpgs the DS has (Infinite Space) so they aren't all just action action action.
