I wouldn't expect things to change. I always liked the contests because of the potential for variation. it's tough to expect that anymore. Zelda still wins (though if you take out OoT, I think FFVII is a solid #2), but the rest of the field is much closer together and since we've never seen them all together in a 1v1 setting there'd be a lot of unpredictability, even with SBAllen's poor bracket making. They all had a large amount of the bracket be new entrants. I guess this contest is kind of an exception depending on the definition of entrants, but 2005 is the only contest in the top two tiers not to have over half its bracket be new (or returnees from 2+ years ago). If we want a great contest, we have to have something which has a lot of new entrants in it. If you don't like Fictional Characters, then don't follow it, but it is one of the only ideas that would be completely unpredictable. To be honest, with how long it's been since our last real character contest, a new one could actually be pretty good.
