I upped mine from 77.5% to 80.7% despite thinking at the time that it K/Catherine would overperform and it would be lower than that prediction. I still have no idea why I did it. I guess because everyone else was raising theirs >_>

I'd never heard of the Catherines either. Looked like a niche jrpg so I was going to go with 80% but I saw Atlus made it so went down a few. This contest is actually one of those rare ones where I recognize almost everything in it, I think there's only one other one I don't know.

My best result is still from the first match, 92nd. Woeful year so far.

Best explanation I can provide:

From what we saw in last year's contest, the newer game in a series always has the better ASV. KHII dominated KH with the ASV, and the same happened with Halo 3/Halo 1 and also Melee/Brawl. This theory could be extended to characters that rely heavily on old school games for most of their strength, and Sonic could be one of those characters. The newer Sonic games would be expected to have a better ASV than the Genesis games, but because the newer games suck, Sonic has to draw his strength from the Genesis games. That's why I think Sonic's ASV has gotten worse in recent years.



For today's match, I knew something was off when I saw a lot of predictions in the high 70s and low 80s. Sonic is no Mario when it comes to 80%+ blowouts. In fact, Sonic has only gotten above 80% in 3 different matches. But other than that, expecting Sonic to deliver a 80%+ blowout will have you disappointed. Also, Catherine/Katherine have a reason to overperform because the game was released about 3 months ago in the US.

Despite that, I raised my prediction from 72.87% to 73.87% and it could pay off big time by giving me a chance at a perfect prediction. I think Catherine/Katherine will get the SNV because of Asia, so that could hurt my chances at a perfect prediction.
