-Matches will last exactly 24 hours. Votes after that much time has elapsed will not be counted, even if a new topic hasn't gone up yet. -This is a contest to determine which character is the most *powerful*. Vote only for the character you think would win in a fight, not the one who's funnier, cooler, or sexier. If you don't do that I can't count your vote. -BOLD YOUR VOTE. Unbolded votes will NOT be counted. -Rallying is allowed. Alts are not. -Fights will take place in a neutral terrain. This does not necessarily mean a *featureless* terrain: assume that both characters will have a chance to use all of their skills to the fullest here, barring setting-specific abilities and anything that requires the presence of multiple enemies (but see below). -Characters start the fight alone. They don't bring allies with them, like Kerrigan and the Zerg Swarm for instance. Summons are allowed though, provided they're brought once combat has started. -Fighters retain their usual personalities. They won't fight to kill unless that's their MO, and won't spam their best attacks to win unless, again, that's how they act in their original media. -Similarly, fighters are unaware of their opponents capabilities at the start of the fight unless their powers facilitate them information (like knowing all there is to know in the universe - this would include who the opponent is and what he can do, as well as weaknesses) -You don't have to justify your vote, but it helps. If you feel like you can add something to the debate, go right ahead! -Seriously, BOLD THE VOTE. So important it bears repeating. -Bracket Link, for viewing past results and future matches: http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?&tid=408528&tclass=

(5) New Son Gambit
From X-Men, the New Son is a version of Gambit who has unlocked his full potential. As an Omega class mutant, he has incredible powers, being capable of stopping the Dark Phoenix by himself. The New Sun has tremendous mastery of space (but not time), having traveled to various universes to prevent the ritual that caused him to awaken from ever happening again, as well as peering into them. He is capable of controlling kinetic energy down to the molecular level, tapping into anything's potential energy to make it explode, and stop an enemy's motion, or conversely for him to keep moving for as long as he wishes, as well as duplicate various other types of energy (such as causing extreme cold by lowering the amount of kinetic energy in an area).

(3) Time Trapper Prime
From DC Comics, the Time Trapper is one of the most vicious foes the Legion of Superheroes have ever faced. This incarnation of him is Superman Prime, a Superman with the powers exhibited by his main-universe Silver Age counterpart. Coupled to his overwhelming physical and mental might, his powers as the Time Trapper (Which include time-travel; Freezing and altering time; Sending beings across a timeline or aging/de-aging them, as well as turning them into protoplasmic slime; Slicing fractions of time out of the time stream to make his own pocket universes, equal in size to the real cosmos and warping the timestream to connect this pocket universe to any point in time he desires; And last but not least, creating barriers that prevent time travel), makes him into a calamitous force that required the combined efforts of several multiverses of heroes to defeat. Time Trapper Prime also possesses various other powers like levitation, size manipulation, telekinesis, telepathy and teleportation.
Uh, New Son. It's a dude who controls energy, versus a guy highly reliant on a specific form of energy, who is *highly* prone to standing around and gloating before he finally decides to fight. Gambit makes him go boom while he's monologuing

We are thought, and reality, and concept, and the unimaginable
Prime. dc's just wrong on prime as usual when it comes to personality and for some bizarre reason assumes he'll react the same way to everyone as he did superman even though he doesn't and it doesn't make a lick of sense to assume so. as for prime's own body, he's flown through anti-matter like it was nothing. he needs a hell of a lot more power than what he showed to damage prime at all.
hell, the way new son was defeated was because gambit supercharged new son too. prime's got way more output than remy did at that point and could reach that goal by heat beaming him if he felt like it even. >_>;

...hell, for a fun part, there was a character on legion's team who specifically messes around with molecules and can alter them as well as manipulate them however she wants. she zapped prime.
it didn't work and she got heat blasted to death. you generally don't get to deal with any superman by messing with molecules as they have control over that anyway. and prime's in particular don't seem to really care what you do to them seeing how he just casually flew through anti-monitor.

...and because info on new son for some reason is scarce and tends to overhype him more than it ought to, here's the general idea.
worth noting is that he didn't actually ever make the planet go boom. the one they're fighting on is the aftermath of what he did. he surface grazed it entirely, but it didn't explode. and time isn't something he can control either - he can go through it but there's no control over it and that's an explicit limit he's got as he tried to undo his supercharging the planet to no avail. pretty much means time trapper powers definitely work.
and that's the end of him, also showing that physical force does work on him. sure he was busy trying to deal with gambit's supercharging him, but it's a falling statue. prime's literally punched through dimensions and threw anti-monitor to the end of the universe after flying through him as if anti-matter didn't mean a thing. .
at that point gambit had hit into his untapped potential and could fight him, but he was still much weaker of the two (the first pic there is him basically responding to new son's statement saying remy's can't ever come close to being as strong) and won because he cheats in fights. which new son does not. gambit had no problem with the idea of supercharging the other guy, new son didn't even think of doing it since he don't cheat. 'whoops.'
he died, planet went boom. superboy did something similar to monarch, except in that case, the universe went boom. time trapper is superboy grown up, now superman prime, who's shown to scare the hell out of borderline omnipotent characters, and better in every way. stronger, tankier, smarter, and better. and yes, being attached by every member of legion from every universe at the same time definitely is a better feat based on who's on it.
or tl;dr, even superboy prime'd smash new son's face in. superman prime kills him easy. time trapper prime is superman prime with timey wimey powers. new son just don't have the offensive capability, the speed, OR the defensive ability to win that. or the dickish nature to, as remy put it, cheat.

TTP and it's not even close... New Son is herald level, approximately. TTP is eons beyond that. Regardless of their respective powersets and such (where TTP also has the advantage), he's just several tiers above him.
