Welcome to another round of the Best OST Contest, where we decide the best game soundtrack by voting on the songs in it.
Condensed rules and guidelines: * You must listen to both songs in the match. Use the provided links. * You must vote on the songs in the match. Not the game's overall music. Not how much you like the game itself. ***VOTE ON THE SONGS*** * To help enforce rule 2, All votes must be given for the song title, not the game or the seed number. No exceptions. * Normal contest rules apply about alts, rallying, multi-voting, etc. * No mid-thread tallies, please. * Matches run 24 hours from when they start.
Previous results: a. Emil/Karma kicked butt and took numbers, smashing Tabula Rasa. NieR advances, 21-7. b. Despite quite a few people saying they didn't like it, they voted for Mechanism anyway, and it nearly doubles UNATCO. Neotokyo advances 17-9.

I'm guessing my bracket took out MMX in round 1, because I have SSBB going all the way and there's no way I'd vote Theme of Love over Armored Armadillo...or did I? *shrug* Not checking.
Armored Armadillo
This may be the one time we see anything resembling weakness out of Umineko. Marionette's still a pretty good song, but compared to songs like WED and DED, this might be the one chance Umineko has to lose, and I happen to like the opposition here.
theme of love was one of the worst MGS songs in brawl, who nominated this? not a huge fan of AA either but I'll give it the nod
centennial festival not really a favorite of mine, the piano line is nice but most of the rest of it not so much. for what he had as a starting point this is a song where zun could have backed off of his usual ADHD style. one of the better umineko songs I've heard through these contests too so it gets the vote, very charming melody. kind of the opposite of centennial festival in that it is repetitive, it has something good going and it sticks with it where centennial festival starts with this really nifty piano part and adds and goes away from that in some really incongruent ways. also definitely one of those songs where the awful MIDI horn is harder to forgive than some others, in some cases I like the cheese samples but here it's just grating
From: Ed Bellis | #011 I think this one is rather...silly but kind of exciting. Like you are going very fast on a mine cart and dont have a care in the world.

I can't believe I'm voting for this after I saw it's stupid name, but I really liked the piano. Never liked Happiness Of Marionette, just not my cup of tea.
Ultimaphazon posted... Could you add "Best OST" or something in all the topic titles? Makes it easier to search for them (at least have some sort of unique tag!)
Seconding this. I have "Best OST" highlighted with Gamefox and nearly missed this topic because of that.
Yeah, I missed the topic because of this, also.

Horrible results. Emil/Karma is a very good song as well, so that result isn't as bad, but Mechanism was complete crap.

theme of love (both are pretty painful but this one was less so) centennial festival (umineko's weakest in the lineup vs. probably the best song in this contest so far)
First match isn't really that close. For a second there I thought the second match was going to be way closer than I anticipated. But upon re-listening to Happiness of Marionette I clearly forgot how much I like it. It went back to being an easy call at that point.

Sorry about dropping the header. Normally I write up the topic the night before but copy/pasting into a notepad file I have, and I preserve the format that way. For some reason I didn't do that with this morning's topic. I already have tomorrow's written -- Best OST Contest: Schala's v Primal Scene of Japan, Dissonant Courage v The Original
Don't remember what I did today, but I don't intend for it to happen again.

Oh, a big machine with flashy lights. A big machine like that has me written all over it. Well, okay, it doesn't. But give me time... and a crayon --11th Doctor
As I've said, I don't really support Brawl being here, yet I'm voting for it again due to its opposition being pretty questionable. I really did not care for Armored Armadillo, it might be my least favorite MMX piece so far. I definitely like The Centennial Festival for Magical Girls, but Happiness of Marionette is pretty interesting and nice to listen to, so in spite of me being less familiar with it, it wins. It helps that The Centennial Festival for Magical Girls is not on my high list of Touhou pieces, though really, I like just about any Touhou piece, so it says a lot that Happiness of Marionette gets the vote despite hearing it the first time.
