http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/jobs-biography-reveals-a-man-always-ready-to-pick-a-fight/article2210145/

On Android copying the iPhone:
“I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40-billion in the bank, to right this wrong,” Mr. Jobs told his biographer, Walter Isaacson, in an “expletive-laced rant.” “I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.”

On meeting Obama in person:
You’re headed for a one-term presidency,” he told Mr. Obama when he met him in 2010. He told Mr. Obama that the United States needed to become more business-friendly if it did not want to lose its edge. He talked about how much easier it was to build a factory in China than in the U.S., where there were too many regulations and needless costs.

On the Christian faith:
He rejected the religion at the age of 13, the book reveals, after seeing starving children on the cover of Life magazine. After asking his pastor if God knew about those children, he never went back to church.

On Microsoft and Bill Gates:
Mr. Jobs once declared about Mr. Gates: “He’d be a broader guy if he had dropped acid once or gone off to an ashram when he was younger.” “Bill is basically unimaginative and has never invented anything, which is why I think he’s more comfortable now in philanthropy than technology. He just shamelessly ripped off other people’s ideas.”

And I told people a million times that I never liked Jobs as a person and only sympathized with him because cancer sucks ass, but that wasn't enough for most people.

Give me a break dude, I just wanted to use the word "broader".

But the trip is all you. A lot of people should probably never try acid because they're too insecure with their own thoughts and they don't have the ability to change their mindset. For those who can.. it's something beyond explanation. No it will not make you more creative, but to use the cliche... It gives you a new perspective.

I wouldn't ever call dropping acid risky, because I feel that if you know how to prepare with the right set and setting, there is no way it can go wrong. A bad trip is just someone's own fears taking hold of their mind and causing an unending stream of negative thoughts and feelings. If you have control of your own mind, you can literally choose how you want to feel while on acid.

Awesome image. Nevertheless, Jobs is at least on the same level as Gates in terms of innovation, if not higher. We owe a lot to the man, even if he wasn't much of a man.

That wasn't directly Jobs's fault.

It was, however, the fault of the firm he worked for and Apples extremely strict and, let's face it, destructive policies regarding slip ups.

Last I checked, people who leaked accidentally or otherwise in that factory faced torture.

I think you're heavily underrating the importance of Bill Gates here.

Compared to Steve Jobs, would you really see Bill Gates as someone that gathered attention like Steve Jobs? I don't think Bill Gates got huge fans like Steve Jobs did. People see Bill Gates as a very rich businessman and now philanthropist, but they see Steve Jobs as a pretty cool guy, innovator, visionary, artist, and so on. I have much more respect for the things Bill Gates has done (not to say that I don't respect Steve Jobs, I really do have respect for the things he's done for technology), but I just can't see Microsoft users talking about crying when they found out about Bill Gates' death like Apple fans did when Jobs died.

Anecdotal evidence time: When news came about Steve Jobs dying, a student in my class who was messing around on Facebook mentioned it to the class. My class actually stopped for several minutes as people went on news websites (especially the people on Macs, which were half my class). Some people said that this is the second biggest death they've seen in their lifetimes, the first being Michael Jackson. I just can't see people reacting the same way with Bill Gates.

This may have something to do with the fact that a vastly higher number of people use Microsoft products than Apple. Microsoft is a standard, while Apple has been a deviation. You don't hear people say "Hey, you use Microsoft? Cool, me too!" like with Apple stuff because nearly everyone uses Microsoft products.

all his innovations have gone about things the wrong way from my viewpoint, so while he's notable he's also subject to criticism

Apple's computers have always been overpriced and heavily simplified (with less functionality) compared to machines running Windows.

The iPod was a big step and so was iTunes, but they've also chosen to sell low bitrate music and refuse to allow FLAC as even an option. at one point, the music was even stuck with DRM.

those are pretty large missteps in my mind. I take any criticism he doles out with salt added.
