Welcome to another round of the Best OST Contest, where we decide the best game soundtrack by voting on the songs in it.
Match Rules: * You must listen to both songs in the match. Use the provided links. * You must vote on the songs in the match. Not the game's overall music. Not how much you like the game itself. ***VOTE ON THE SONGS*** * To help enforce rule 2, All votes must be given for the song title, not the game or the seed number. No exceptions.
Other details: * The match will last 24 hours from the time this thread is posted. Regardless of when the next day's topic goes up, or when the current topic actually gets counted and closed, votes count up to 24.0 hours after the match's beginning. * Normal contest rules apply regarding alts, rallying, multi-voting, etc. * No mid-thread tallies, or comments related to a vote count. It can influence the voters. Regardless of how excited you may be, please let things evolve naturally. * If there are two matches, you do not have to vote for both. If you want to change your vote, please identify that it is a change to your vote. Do not erase the old vote. * Advanced voting is allowed. Contact me with your vote by PM. Check the spreadsheet for the appropriate songs to listen to: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoS8GGHS9FDGdFprRGpQa3ZtRGcwTTM5VTQ2SWViUGc&hl=en_US * Re-read the third rule. Votes naming only the game will not be counted.
The spirit of this contest is a bit different from what you might be used to in a contest. Upsets are expected. The tournament will be double elimination, so if your favorite game loses here, it isn't done. You can see the rest of the rules on the contest or figure out how the heck we got to where we are here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/60522913
Previous results: (Unofficial) a. Though technically there's still one hour to go, Argon Refinery has pulled ahead of Crystallized Silver by a wide enough margin that it's safe to call this one. Shatter will be advancing. b. Similarly, the second match started out more one-sided, but Plantation brought it to much more even. Still, not even enough. Angel's Fear leads by enough to be able to safely say that Secret of Mana advances.
I will have final vote counts later today.

9. Shim Megami Tensei - Persona 3: FES vs 8. Touhou 3: Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream (wtf at longest game introduction line ever)
Living With Determination - Iwotodai Station http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCYHCmjGqs8
Strawberry Crisis!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1HEJBG8vHU (note: original link provided was different arrangement of song)
surprised SM64 got in but a few zelda soundtracks didn't, kondo's work on the zelda series tends to be a lot better than his mario soundtracks. usually a mario soundtrack has one or two songs I really love like dire dire docks, bob-omb battlefield isn't so good. NieR still has the best soundtrack of any game I haven't played, needs a PC port!
nothing really happens in strawberry crisis either, it's uncharacteristically repetitive and motionless for ZUN. probably just going to leave my abstain for that match, I haven't been able to lean either way any time I've listened
Shame for P3 to get knocked out so early, but they picked a bad song to start with.

It could be even worse: that's an abbreviation in Touhou 3's title! (I've never seen it written any other way, but based on the context of the game and the name of one of the songs on the OST, it probably stands for "Dimensional")
Bob-omb Battlefield--nice and simple. Vocal tracks are good for the ending credits, but all throughout a game? I'll pass.
LOL this contest. A late wave of votes sends my strongest nom to the showers early in a match it had been leading for most of, and now there's this mess of a remix, probably worst version I've ever heard of it, and wait why is it not ending, WTF, 6 minutes? I chose the link that was truest to the original game, but if I'd known this was coming, I'd have just given you a remastered version to begin with, like this one ).
Actually, I think a link that is both closer to what you were aiming for and still actually sounds good is this one: At the very least, they have the same length, give or take a second.
So naturally, this one's kicking butt. *sigh* Well, I suppose it is the better song, though that link makes it a lot closer than it should be. Strawberry Crisis!! it is.

Tsunami, the original link you gave me was ... This is the same as the version in your second link. However, the version in the packaged OST (which is what your link was) is not the actual in-game music. Granted the sound can vary slightly depending on output settings, but we work from music found in-game.
This will, btw, affect future rounds for Touhou 3 as well.
Also, which game of your's was ahead for most of the match? I assumed you meant Touhou 7, but I just rechecked the votes to be sure. PCB was never ahead by more than a vote, and it was frequently behind before Shatter made it's big surge at post #30.

Oh, a big machine with flashy lights. A big machine like that has me written all over it. Well, okay, it doesn't. But give me time... and a crayon --11th Doctor
When I first saw the matchups this morning I thought I would be voting the opposite in both matches (truth be told the only song I had heard previously was Bob-Omb Battlefield).
I think that these are the best songs I've heard from Nier and Touhou, and yet...ironically enough, neither of them have made a VGMC?
The Wretched Automatons Living With Determination - Iwotodai Station
Bob-Omb Battlefield is probably my least favorite soundtrack so far and the first one that could actually go below average for me in a rating. The Wretched Automatons is awesome. No contest in voting there. The second one was closer, since I usually love Touhou and this was not an exception. Still, I like Living With Determination more, it was always one of my favorite Persona 3 tracks.
