Hey! I just thought it would be fun to do a brainstorming of funny joke nominations for the contest.
Some people have suggested a rival for L-block, but they haven't really made an agreement on the matter, so we could work on that. I think the Line Piece would be a good one.
Also, somebody mentioned a Left Pong Paddle / Right Pong Paddle nomination, which I would TOTALLY support.
So... anyone has got any ideas?

I'm not sure Einstein/Hitler is eligible for that matter. Characters originated from any media that is not videogames are not allowed, but fictional representations that hold on its own can be eligible, so...

I don't think anything is going to be funnier than Charles Barkley vs. Michael Jordan, which is totally going to be allowed because there is absolutely no possible way that the Barkley: Shut Up And Jam Gaiden versions of these two can possibly be confused for the real people that they're based on.

Nominate The Kid vs. The Guy (I Wanna Be The Guy) for the Greatest Gaming Rivalry Contest! Also, nom Luigi/King Boo, not Luigi/Waluigi.

They're eligible, they fall straight under that definition.
Preferably, I wouldn't put any Pokémon rivalries since they are hardly considered "joke" nominations, and it's also very hard to pair up certain classes of Pokémon (since a lot of them that are not from R/B/Y or from the "Legendary" type may be considered too niche or random). It's just fine to have your own nominations for Pokémon that aren't Charizard/Blastoise, Pikachu/Mewtwo, Mew/Mewtwo, etc... (i.e. Ho-oh/Lugia), but I just can't think of any rivalry worthy of the "joke" label.

Pondos posted... Shouldn't L-Block's rival be J-Block?
I mean, really.
J-Block isn't from the original Tetris IIRC, so Z-Block sounds like a more viable option. If you prefer though, maybe we can pair L-Block with Inverted L-Block, sort of like a Link/Dark Link kind of deal.

The first choice is pretty niche, so I wouldn't count it. Also, you consider Link/Dark Link a joke nomination? Many people are actually rooting for that instead of nominating Link/Ganondorf. Besides, I have already chosen Link/Navi as a way more effective joke nom.

Due to what happened on the Gamespot contest recently, I'm changing my mind about Einstein/Hitler, so I might as well discard Charles Barkley/Michael Jordan completely as well. I suggest you guys don't nominate real-life characters, unless you have a strong argument to support them. FYI, I'm hesitant about Little Mac/Mike Tyson and that sort of stuff (either way, that match doesn't really have that much of a "joke" label in the first place).

Launchpad McQuack and Albert Einstein were rallied to the finals by certain site called 4chan, just because of the fact that they weren't originally from videogames, and they wanted to piss off the Gamespot community by messing with the match-ups' results by taking down the favorites to win the contest. For Gamespot's misfortune, they managed to do it, and now the final match is between those two.

Who do YOU guys think would be the greatest rival for L-Block?
It's obviously Z-Block. Z-Block is the most annoying block in Tetris because it's hard to use it to clear a line. That makes Z-Block an ideal antagonist for L-Block.
