Well it seems that the Giants have turned it on now, but I'm wondering if it's too late... the Braves, Cards and DBacks don't seem to be slowing down. Hard to tell if they're going to torture me into another playoff run, or just get my hopes up (I thought it was over about 4 games back) and then fail at the finish....

Giants have almost literally no chance at the playoffs. If the Braves go just .500 the rest of the way, the Giants have to go undefeated just to tie their record. I forget if it would then be decided by head-to-head record or a playoff, but my point is just tying the Braves is a pretty hopeless task for them. The Cardinals have a marginally better chance, but they're not likely either.

LOL, the Brewers are terrible. You do know the reason their record is good is because the beat up scrub teams right? They are a .500 team(may be less now after the Phillies put a beat down on them), against teams not named Astros, Cubs and the Pirates.

First round exit guaranteed. I personally do hope they make it to the NLCS, just so my Diamondbacks can beat the crap out of them.

I looked it up Brewers vs everyone not named Astros, Cubs, and Pirates: 56-54
Brewers vs Astros, Cubs and Pirates: 31-9

I'll say it again: nothing is guaranteed in the playoffs.

But the Brewers are awful, yes.

I'm merely basing it off if the playoffs started now. D'backs would get home field(2nd seed) and play the Braves, while the Brewers would play the Philles.

I don't exactly like the Brewers chances, though I would like them to win, only because I find them to be a far easier team to beat than the Phillies.
There is also the fact that the NL central champion hasn't won a single game in the playoffs since 2006:
2010: Reds swept by Phillies
2009: Cardinals swept by Dodgers
2008: Cubs swept by Dodgers
2007: Cubs swept by Diamondbacks

The NL central is just a joke division.

Nothing is guaranteed in the playoffs. A better Phillies team lost to the Yanks in the WS (compared to the previous year)
A better Phillies team lost to a hot team with triple A hitting the next year in the NLCS

Anything can happen. Scuffling or not, teams that get into the playoffs can do damage if one stupid thing goes right. We've seen it so many years.

Even though they aren't making the playoffs, watching Giants games can still be awesome. Panda has come so far from last year to this year. He's such a solid player right now and I hope he stays ready for next year. We got dealt a bad hand this year in a few respects, but that doesn't mean we cant run the table next year.

edit: (Obviously we could still go to the playoffs if a LOT of things go right in the final 13 games, but that would require a lot of key wins and key losses. I'm not saying it's impossible I'm just not going to pin any hopes on it either)
