Are your round 2 result correct???

My round 2 result indicate that I have won 9 matches and lost 5 giving me 18 pts for the round (9+5=14 and there was 16 matches in R2)

But I have 10 match right... and I did not have Either Cortana or Moogle... I had Athena, so the problem isn't that... I'm I the only one with that problem?

I haven't even looked at my bracket since the round ended. My bracket is shot anyway. I had Yoshi in the finals, for one.

The main match I'm keeping an eye on is Dogmeat/Luigi. Thats the one 4chan has decided to focus on since Launchpad and Einstein essentially have bye rounds. They want Luigi out since he's the only real competitor left who can beat Launchpad/Einstein.

Either Epona's pulling through, or WCC's a bust on a site where Gordon/GLaDOS/Dr. Breen have done well.

At the least, Epona looks to confirm being the strongest LoZ-character there. Epona directly broke 60% on Navi and currently has 59% on WCC compared to Midna's 40% on Alyx; Alyx/WCC may not be that even, but they were both championship-contenders and that's still a big gap. Epona being stronger than Navi/Midna were also supported by the vote-in. These coupled with her having the most LoZ-games shouldn't be surprising: Epona's proven she has potential.

I'm not even sure Epona wins. 4chan was heavily rallying against Cube early on due to being annoyed by the Portal jokes, and Cube has really made a comeback. Went from like 25% to 41.5% now. Epona is still fav but I don't think its a lock.

Epona gained ~100 votes in the past hour, and we're now five hours into it. She could still certainly lose, but 4chan's influence has stretched thinner now and Alyx would still need to be reasonably stronger than WCC for Midna to compete with Epona there. If Epona can beat Midna there, she can reasonably beat Midna here too -- that'd be a fine starting position for a character we've never seen here before.

No matter what though, I think its time for Epona to get into a contest just so we can put to rest her strength. If she has strength then great... if not oh well, but at least we'll know. She's a better Zelda candidate than Dark Link, at least.

Talking about animal companions, I think that Gamespot is showing us another one that should be given a chance here, too!

The longer Epona stays around 58% while other 4chan-powered characters fall off, the more this is looking like Epona is legit. That said, anyone who didn't want to see Epona in the contests here on the basis of her being weak was insane. Anything that played a significant role in Ocarina of Time is going to have legit strength, just like how a certain black-haired Cloud can have strength, except Epona has popular sources other than Ocarina of Time to draw from.

Guru Contest Winner Black Turtle is a wonderful user.

...So Epona is stronger than Cube on gamestop. Valve is generally better over there than here while at this site, well, the LAW. Cube got 35% on Luigi last character battle, so based on the above Epona could theoretically manage 40%, indirectly at least. Which would put her on par with Amaterasu. Or at least pre-MvC3 Amaterasu.

Well, the Cube isn't even that strong here. The Boss got, what, 46-47% on it?

Wow, the first match (Talis vs. Dom) has 23000 votes already. With these kinds of vote totals, and considering there's just 2 days left for the rounds to end, I think we have enough to have a lock on most, if not all, of the current matches.

Epona, Dogmeat, Einstein, and Launchpad confirmed as the Final Four. Sweet.

Heck, unless 4chan continues to rally for Dogmeat if/after it beats Luigi, Epona has a legit shot to reach the championship. She's safely beating WCC when Portal 2 released earlier this year, and -- while I trust Alyx is stronger here now than she was in 2006 -- WCC's still been stronger here than Alyx. Otacon still might surprise since CT-characters have done well enough, though I still hate to trust Square there any more than I have to; Cloud lost to Kratos while Sephiroth was badly 4chan'd, and no FF-character's impressed this contest other than Vivi edging out Diddy Kong (which we would have likely all taken if it wasn't for the vote-in).

In the off-chance she did reach the championship, it'd be fun to see if the site banded together behind her against Einstein/Launchpad to try defeating 4chan. That's an x-factor I won't bet on, but hey...with a final like that, all bets are off.


Whatever the case, unless Luigi can overcome 4chan's influence, Epona will be the last Nintendo character standing. What a contest.

Alyx being weaker than WCC here has more to do with Gordon being barely stronger than Peach whereas Gordon is comparable to Link on GameSpot. If it weren't for outside rallying I'd have taken Alyx as stronger than Cube in a GameSpot match without a second thought.

While looking at my bracket I was just thinking about how Otacon was so surprisingly undiscussed in this contest, and when I was building my bracket before the contest started I had it losing to WCC, which was then my winner.

The point is, Otacon may be stronger than WCC and maybe also has a chance against Alyx.

When trying to gauge what sort of challenge Alyx can give Epona, it's worth bringing up their GameFAQs-comparison with a grain of salt. Alyx was tripled by Lara Croft while WCC avoided the doubling to Luigi and once upset Mega Man. When you combine that with the results GameSpot's showing us like Epona currently getting 56.8% on WCC post-Portal 2 and Epona beating Navi worse than Alyx beat Midna (potential SFF, to be fair)...

...I mean, both roads lead to Alyx not being as safe as the contender-status we gave her suggests. Removing Luigi would be a big break for Alyx, but we can see now with Daxter getting 46.4% on her that she's vulnerable to other opponents too. It wouldn't be the first time a Valve-character needed help against a LoZ-character there, anyway.


Whatever the case, I just noticed Epona would have to beat Einstein in order to make that match happen...whoops. GameSpot's bar above the links to vote insinuates a different order than the bracket itself. Dammit GameSpot.

Launchpad and Einstein are on different sides of the bracket. 4chan is making sure its a Launchpad/Einstein final.

Its kinda confusing since Gamespot used a weird kinda bracket so I didn't realize at first, but if you look at the paths, the top and bottom parts of the bracket face eachother final round, not left and right.

So most likely it'll be Launchpad vs Dogmeat, and Einstein vs Epona in the final four.
