Super Metroid doesn't count. The two weeks before saw it lose to MGS2 and come about seven votes away from losing to StarCraft. FFVI should by all indications have walked away with a 60-40 beating in its favor, and instead the opposite happened because FFVI simply underestimated Super Metroid, and was therefore made to look weaker than StarCraft.

Huh, out of all the games that Super Metroid has beaten, StarCraft did best. Not Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy Tactics, or Persona 4, but StarCraft.

It has been confirmed: Super Metroid overperforms against JRPGs.

If there is an overrated game in the top 25 it'll probably be in the 11-20 range. Voters seem to put a lot of thought in the top 10 and games that are on the bubble, but seem to treat the middle part as filler and don't really think too much of those games as long as they continue to win.

Okay, just finished making out a speculative top 50. Very tough trying to fill it out at the end--based solely on resume, it looked like #50 was Banjo-Kazooie (9-5), but I ended up giving it to Link's Awakening (also 9-5) because it beat Banjo-Kazooie. Of course, I know that my top 50 won't match the RPI top 50, because at 12-2, I would assume Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials & Tribulations is probably still in the RPI top 50, and it isn't in mine.

What stunning results yesterday! They were horrible, though, since T&T is one of the greatest games ever made. :[ Not that I mind TWEWY doing well. T&T beat GSC, at least. That along with its record should still warrant a top 50 ranking. TWEWY is erratic, but pretty strong on its good days.

FFIX is overrated as far as the board's love for it AND the RPI rankings! ....Maybe only slightly with the weekly votes, though I think FF6 should be above it, at least....next week we'll find that out for sure, though.

You ruined it. You f***ing ruined it. This was going to be the week! And then ALttP goes out and p***es all over it. I said that the performances of the past opponents would likely affect my decision.

On the bright side, Sonic Adventure managed to beat out Lufia II, so it wasn't all bad. Actually, I'm pretty happy about Paper Mario beating out A Link to the Past, even if it does appear to mean another week of being hounded for not voting Chrono Trigger #1.

SotC > FFVIII, though... :'(

On another note, Galaxy continues to impress. Early on, it looked as though MGS2 had a pretty good shot at the upset, and then Galaxy goes on to a near-doubling. I think I'll be voting that in my top 5 this week (though that's not a huge leap; I had it at #6 last week, and my previous #5, Melee, disappointed against SMRPG.)

SMG1 boosts up, but it still hasn't eclipsed the sequel that beat it directly. LttP hangs onto a Top 10 position despite the surprise loss. Paper Mario only gets a small rankings bump for that surprise win. Also, those are not typoes: Half-Life vaulted up for the win over Fallout 3, and Metroid Prime plummeted just for facing the awfully weak Wild ARMs. (The whole block of #25-#31 is really close in RPI score, so that explains the big moves.)

LTTP lost? I should have remembered to cast my vote! Oh well, Paper Mario is an excellent game too. Now I just have to figure out whether it's better for CT if LTTP lost, to eliminate a potential rival for 1st, or if it had won, to make CT's win over it look more impressive. Once I decide that, the question of whether it's a good thing PM beat LTTP or not will be decided.

You're very right. All Final Fantasy VIII has really done was lead upsets of Twilight Princess and Mega Man 2. Meanwhile, SotC's next opponent upset Super Metroid and Portal, while Half-Life 2 has crapped all over RPI top 30 veterans such as Fire Emblem and Earthbound.

Looks like Call of Duty 4 making F-Zero GX look weaker than Civilization IV was foreshadowing...

Even if MVP Baseball goes 17-13, I doubt it will make the NCAA Tournament because its weak conference slate won't help its RPI be able to get up high enough.
