Note that the creative of Buff/Debuff and Passive abilities is missing, as well as Noncombat abilities and the Combat Explained section. This is because unlike Attacks and Healing, buffs and debuffs vary in effectiveness tremendously by campaign and thus require careful consideration. Being derived from them, Passives are similarly hard to explain at the moment, so Combat is hard to explain when a couple pieces are missing. I'm keeping Noncombats to myself intentionally beyond a basic explanation though, due to them being tied to the characters' roles and all.

Hmm...yeah, a book wouldn't quite work because the epic flashes with awesome music would be lost (seriously, what book has its own soundtrack?), but because there's a lot of text involved, it wouldn't work well as an animated show, either...

I think we have our answer. Forget the "book" idea, if by "book" you mean something comprised of numerous sheets of paper bound together, and instead release it for 3DS/Vita/iPhone/whatever other format you want to release it in. Maybe even a home console if you want, because I guess there have been plenty of visual novels on home consoles before, but part of the appeal of a "book" is that you can take it anywhere and if you put it on a console it would start to feel less like a book and more like a movie.

Also, there need to be more video games based on good webcomics. I honestly didn't even know there was another one outside of the Penny Arcade Adventures series, and I've never heard of Blade Kitten so it's possible that it's a good series, but still...those hacks from Penny Arcade are among the only webcomics with their own video game. This must be remedied.

When I think "Hack" and "Webcomic", I think of Ctrl+Alt+Del, not PA. And PA is pretty much the polar opposite of CAD so

Not to get hung up on one tangential bit of that argument, but PA is at best, the best gaming webcomic/ a good news resource , and at worse, pretty much the most inoffensive thing ever, so I'm curious on why you think they're hacks.

Yeah honestly PA is probably the one gaming webcomic worth respecting if anything.

"Name: Obviously.
Race: Troll, Human, or something else if you have any ideas, but run them through me on AIM first.
Description: What the character looks like and how he or she acts. If you're gonna use typing quirks, you could show them off too.
Dwelling: A superficial description of the character's home.
Guardian: Who his or her guardian is. The Guardian doesn't have to be like the ones in the comic, though. I could accept a twin or younger sibling as a guardian, or even a total stranger. A rough idea of their style of badassery would be useful too, like how Dad has superstrength, Mom Lalonde can attack with anything she can buy, and Bro flash steps.
Foil and Denizen: Two mortal enemies: provide a few vague ideas for your Denizen (nothing bigger than a few adjectives or maybe some sort of attack), as well as a key trait or two for your Foil.
Strife Specibus: Of course."

Technically you'd also have to prep a character sheet, but that will come once I know what everybody would prefer to play. If nobody speaks up I'll just pick a system on Friday.

So I'm debating nominating Vriska or/and Jack Noir for MPFC but I'm wondering if their strength is too badly defined for the purposes of the contest. Homestuck isn't really a story with many "feats."

Still, you've got a god who controls all luck and a semi-omnipotent dog wearing sunglasses, who the former is on par with. Fun characters.

Vriska is definitely quantifiable enough. Noir is also very quantifiable - there's already a character nommed that set the bar for what I'd allow and Jack is nowhere near his level.

EDIT: Also, for some reason AIM is a total failure and isn't letting me enter the Controlmemo group, so I've made a new group for any questions you guys might have. It's sburbmemo, no caps. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Due to stuff coming up on Saturday, instead of a marathon session from 3 PM to the evening, I'll run two sessions, one on Friday from likely 1-2 PM 'til late and one on Saturday until 7 PM. If you're free on Friday, remember to tune in and get ready for a game of high stakes!

PS: Just to clarify: you don't have to attend both sessions and won't miss out on anything because I will put up logs. This is just a way for me to get around having to cut a session short on SAT for those open the day before, so as to avoid giving somebody very little spotlight. I'll post more info tomorrow before the game gets going.

by showing it to kanz. either through copy and pasting the thing over aim, or sending teh file over aim (assuming you saved it in a file), or perhaps uploading the file to somewhere and linking kanz to it. as a last resort, you could probably post it here though i am unsure how wise that would be given the apparent secretive nature of it all. like, it took forever for us to learn people's names in homestuck...let alone their interests and stuff
