the best new thing about MK7 isn't the hang gliders or the underwater

it's the vehicle parts customization, and the Retro Studios co-developer imho

Yeahh. And they ruined Baby Park-5 laps just doesn't let it get as amusingly ridiculous with items covering every inch of track like 7 laps did.

I complained about snaking at first until I realized that it was too easy not for me to do it. It's not like it was some super advanced technique. What fun is simply holding 'A'? Shouldn't you be trying to do speed boosts as much as possible? Snaking was just the natural result of efficiently doing speed boosts on straightaways.

It's not really snaking that was the problem, it was the fact it was so effective. If you didn't snake, you were screwed. Even if you couldn't snake perfectly, you'd get a huge advantage over others in the right kart.

Snaking in Mario Kart Wii isn't as unbalanced. It's harder to do, and the boosts you get from it aren't as big, so it works. You can use it as an advantage, but it won't put you so far ahead from people who don't snake (that's what bikes are for.. >_>)

And DD had the best defense mechanics. You actually had to time it right to block incoming attacks, instead of just dragging stuff behind you for full protection without having to do anything. That's one thing I miss from every other Mario kart game.

I've played the hell out of MKDS, and from my experiences, it's no contest. Snaking outperforms regular driving and powersliding by miles. In time trials, missions, and races, the time difference is obvious. The only times when snaking doesn't provide a distinct advantage is when the snaker is so bad at it that they slide all around the track recklessly, spending more time sliding than moving forward, or if the kart they're using doesn't provide big boosts from powerslides.

By default, I wouldn't snake whenever I played online. I didn't want to make things unfair if I raced against people who couldn't or chose not to snake, and I wanted to have fun racing them. I also found it kind of hard on my hands after a while. But if someone I raced against started snaking, I would join in too. Unless they turned out to be terrible at it, there'd be no way to compete otherwise.

I managed to enjoy Mario Kart DS all the way through without snaking. I completed all the cups and such with no snaking.

Hell I didn't even know how to snake until I started playing online AFTER I beat everything else.
