Interesting stuff. I love it when they talk about their development process for these sorts of things. Also, the third scene was actually pretty funny.
Also, new video by Don Newman, that one pyro dude:
So, how's everyone doing on acquiring the new weapons?
-- Ginhyun 'Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run
I was running by some newb medic mashing the e button for help when I'm on fire, and he's still healing the Heavy. I feel like I hit a time paradox into 2007.
The Heavy is a big boy, and he can handle himself(especially on pubs, and ESPECIALLY with his new toys), just heal me, it'll take two seconds.

It will launch for $350 with some Wii Sports s***. I bet my life on it. Damn, that KoolAid guy is awesome - NGamer64
No, that isn't all. But those were literally the only massively huge problems we had.
We were fine the first few rounds until their Spy realized they could run behind us without any problem and keep picking me off. And he was a DEAD RINGER. There is no excuse for him being able to get past us.
We tried for impossible back caps and flanks on a full entourage of damaging classes that were doomed from the start.
I'm not even sure if anybody was actually going after their Medic at all.
Despite being told to SPRAY FLAMES EVERYWHERE, they were still scarce in the only two directions that a Spy could get behind us and constantly did without trouble.
And for the love of god, you debated using an uber for minutes on end. When you had it. You use the uber and you go forward with it ASAP when you have at least two attacking people. Especially when we were holding onto it for so long and we were hunkered down that much. You don't debate when or when not to use it.
Oh, and shut the up about Uber advantage when it's close enough by SECONDS of us popping on each other, it doesn't matter because any factors could change how fast it builds up. In fact, anything that's less than ten seconds apart is not even worth mentioning.
If you get the Stats, you will look and see that the Spy was literally the only thing to kill me with maybe 2-3 exceptions. It was just completely ridiculous.
You can blame not being coordinated, but that wasn't it! You talked for minutes about uber usage and you STILL sucked it up. I should've stayed as a Medic that second round and people should've been encouraged to speak more for me. Oh and they should've spy checking as well, let's not forget about spy checking. I didn't see the Spy often, so me being able to say something about him wouldn't have helped at all-- and it sure as hell didn't help Para! This is not to say anything against Para's skills at all; I couldn't really assess them since I was the Engineer. The only change up we needed was a switch to Kritz; maybe. Switching me out was ridiculous since I used voice commands a lot.
And nobody is going to tell me to not fight a Spy when there is NOBODY around me who can help and when I finally did get back up, it was with a freaking Sniper. Seriously.
Speaking of, if you're getting revolver'd by a Spy, then you f***ing run away as a Pyro and live to keep spy checking. He'll come back around.
On mid, every single time, we got demolished by the guys who went to the staircase on the left hand side. Why didn't anyone keep checking there? Why didn't anyone use the same strategy on them? I don't know. On mid, it was the same problem as before. Nobody stayed on my side to get healed and nobody watched that area. Once they found that out, they ran over us.
I'm going to try to find a fix for my mic when I get time.

As for new weapons, I've found the Detonator, Enforcer, and Eviction Notice but I don't use any of them. I've crafted the Quick Fix, Atomizer, Bazaar Bargain, and Soda Popper. I traded my Tomislav for a Liberty Launcher and I ripped one of my friends off for a Solemn Vow. I'd say I'm doing pretty good.
Some comments on new stuff:
lmao Detonator, sticking with the Shotgun lmao Enforcer, sticking with the Revolver lmao Eviction Notice, sticking with the GRU
The Quick Fix is great, I think I'm going to stick with it on defense. The healing speed is amazing and I like keeping everyone alive. In fact I use the ubercharge of the Quick Fix primarily to keep teammates alive on defense so that they don't have to go through that long respawn time. It's pretty great but it sucks when the person you ubercharge thinks you want them to attack and so they just charge in and die. If only there was a way around that. I'm saving up for an Overdose or hopefully I'll find a random drop on it soon.
The Atomizer is pretty situational though it has both saved and killed me on a couple of occasions. I probably won't ever use the other scout melee weapons anymore. I'm looking for a Winger to try out.
The Bazaar Bargain is amazing. I prefer it to the default rifle in every way, aesthetically and in gameplay. Never going back. Bazaar Bargain/Jarate/Bushwacka for life.
The Liberty Launcher is awesome. Only class that I find it to actually be worse against is Heavy, but for everyone else, three rockets is usually enough to get in a certain kill. Still getting used to the speed though. I'm looking for a Reserve Shooter, anybody think it's better than the shotgun?
Just crafted the Soda Popper but my hands are tired so I'll use it the next time I play. Looking forward to it.
The Solemn Vow is okay, I'm just keeping it for collection's sake. Still using the ubersaw and doing amazingly with it.
1. Not just spychecking, but check behind you ALL THE TIME. If you are with a group of 3-4 rushing forward, there is NO REASON for at least 1 person to not be staring behind to catch sneaky people (not just spies but scouts/demos/pyros/whatever).
2. Every second that you're holding onto an uber and not deploying it is a second in which you can die instantly, and more importantly if you care about uber advantage, a second in which you are not charging the next uber. Uber is not a safety net, it's not a megalixer, you don't save it for the best moment.
So in playing a little more, I'm still borderline terrible at Spy and can't hit a thing as Soldier, even if I'm aiming at people's feet. But I am making team MVP as Engineer, so hooray

We are thought, and reality, and concept, and the unimaginable
We did lose our match, yes. We were stomping them at first and then I started to get backstabbed and we proceeded to lose. The decision that was made was that since my mic wasn't working, it must be lack of coordination with the Medic not being able to talk, even though we were fine on coordination. So we switched Medics and got demolished harder.
And the Scottish Resistance is only good on defense when you want to camp a lot.

Trust me, I know where we went wrong, and not being able to push effectively was one of them. That was in part due to the fact that we couldn't solidly coordinate ubercharge rate, which meant that we couldn't do a solid push with uber.
-- XD blitz did you warn me? -Angerfist No, but I'm suspending you right now. -BlitzBoy
Uh. I never had the chance to let you know what my ubercharge rate was because I kept getting backstabbed. Each and every time I did have an uber people were talking about it. There was literally no problem with people being unaware of my uber rate. That's how it was when we were winning. People knew my ubercharge rate when we were winning. Then there was no point in talking about it because of backstabs resetting my uber rate constantly. People also knew when I used the Go Go Go commands.
I feel like you're worried about problems that had minimal affect.

5:23 PM - KM Wrath: The medic is the most vital asset to the team, without one the team will fall; no doubt. A medic with comms is a medic that can alert his teammates of iminent threats as well as call out enemy locations on the fly, why is this important? its because the medic should'nt be suffing from battle-based tunnel vision. Teammates in combat eg the soldier or demoman are most likely in combat and focused on a single or multiple enmy targets, as the medic you should not be as focused on single targets but be aware of your surroundings in order to have the tactical advantage. The medic should be able to see everything and announce everything (everything important at least.). A medic with comms can also tell his team when uber is ready or at what point it can be ready and can communicate to his team so that they know that he has it or that he may lose it.
That's why we're not playing with a medic without a mic.

From: VincentLauw | #017 so after spending a healthy amount of time with all classes (some a lot more than others) I'm gonna say I prefer the Demoman and Engineer for now.
That's a good combo, especially because playing Engie lets you know the weaknesses of Engie locations so that you can destroy them as Demo, and playing as Demo lets you know how to best position your buildings to prevent getting owned by Demos.
The reason I spent a minute debating whether or not to use the uber was because I wasn't sure what our strategy when backed up to the last point was, if we wanted to charge out and use the uber or to stay back and counteruber. I felt that the latter choice was better if we didn't have a plan, which was why we just had to wait, and I didn't want to push out without everyone being on board with that.

Yes dino, I think we all understand the merits of having a Medic who can talk on a mic, but the main issue is this:
Talented Medic Using Voice Commands + Spy Checking > Medic with a mic + No Spy Checking
The problem wasn't that I couldn't speak, and you're just plain wrong for acting like it is.
And concerning the debating for minutes about using an uber-- it doesn't matter. You're ready to deploy an uber and you go in there and announce it. I did so by using the voice command "GO GO GO" and people were well aware. And we had plenty of success with our ubers. If you announce you're using it, then you'll be fine. You'll have back up. People will know what's going on, and you don't need to debate about "Oh should we use it? What if they counter uber us, oh no!" No, you use it ASAP and force them to use their uber if they have it. You take the fight to them first so you aren't standing there like a putz on a push map. That's more time for them to build up their uber and respawn. It was dumb, and I don't think I could've spammed "MOVE UP!" and "GO GO GO" enough when I was Engineer during that.

Though I'm was not a part of this battle nor have I seen it, but it seems there's been a consistent complaint towards spy problems and lack of spychecking for weeks now.
It's not something that can continually be brushed aside if victory is to be earned.

So weve cornered Andy and Kyle in the Swarts stairwell and then this guy comes out of NO WHERE like ****ing Batman or something. ; ExTha is the man
Also, thanks dino for inviting me to the scrim. I played pretty poorly but it was fun and I certainly got better once we moved to Dustbowl. My ping was pretty grim (woo fixing that tomorrow) but even then that first map was meh for me. The one highlight was dominating the enemy spy on multiple occasions. That and soloing the sentry on the first point on Dustbowl.
Also, that sniper was ridiculous. Augh.
Regarding the new weapons, I've gotten the Liberty Launcher, Reserve Shooter, Soda Popper, and Detonator from drops. I'll probably craft a Tomislav pretty soon.
Lastly, if anyone wants any crates (probably not) then feel free to let me know. Also, if any of the new TF2 players are looking for specific, older weapons then I may be able to help you out.

The best strange weapons are the ones that aren't typically used as often. Got thousands of kills on your minigun? Who cares? Let's see your hoovy shotgun.
I want a strange engineer shotgun. I rack up tons of kills with engi shotty.

They have 2 better snipers! Just saying...

Alright, I don't want to open up another argument, and this isn't meant as an insult or anything, but after speaking to 4 people who played in the match, none of them noticed any of your voice commands.

Oh yeah, kurtfisto, just because Don uses the shotgun doesn't mean it's better. IMO, TMP is a LOT better than Don is, and he loves the flare gun, even before the buff.
