RVD vs Joe was passable.

Devon vs Joe was kinda good but wtf at how over Devon was for that.

So far this year though, the elimination chamber was really good, the rumble was great, mania was meh, but Extreme Rules was really fun.

Wrestlemania was better than Royal Rumble this year.

It just doesn't seem like it from a gut feeling because we expect more from Wrestlemania.

WM is probably top-to-bottom the most solid PPV we've had in 2011, but nothing really stood out unless you're one of the people that REALLY bought into Trips vs. Taker.

Wait, I take that back, you're right, Elimination Chamber is the leader in the clubhouse for PPV of the year.

The MotY thus far, plus another good Chamber, plus Miz vs. Lawler which was old-school fun, and a pretty good Kofi vs. Del Rio match makes for 2 hours of good stuff, forget the filler.

well only 4 matches, but i really, really, really liked Edge vs Ziggler and loved the rumble itself.

though yeah Mania as a mania may have been meh, but it had a nice collection of solid matches.

Edge really gave it his all in the PPVs that led to mania, TLC great fourway, Rumble had the good match with ziggles and EC had that thing with rey that as oh jesus good.

But ANYWAYS, if AJ vs. Daniels gets the usual time allotted to a PPV main event (no Sting vs. Jeff Hardy jokes please), it has a solid, solid chance at being a MotY candidate.

I hope both guys are going in 100% healthy and the bookers just pick a winner and stay away. That's all we want.

The bad thing about the PPV isn't that it all had very good matches, but that at its lows, it was untolerable and abysmal. The Rock promo at the start, The Corre match, Cole vs Lawler, and the main event was just insulting that it was literally a build up to NEXT YEAR'S WRESTLEMANIA. It was also just plain stupid to boot. Dependent on how you felt about Triple H vs Undertaker as well, it could've been a very hard PPV to sit through.

While I think Jakyl may bespending a lot of time defending the PPV i also think its cos biscuit is too negative or maybe has a lil pessimistic attitude on the whole.

like I don't think it was a bottom 5 and if you gave the taker match a ***3/4 + rating, i think it falls above bottom 6-7ish,

Off the top of my head Hogan/Andre would be last. It would almost assuredly be a Hogan match in any case, since his matches with Bundy, Slaughter, and Sid all sucked. I'm counting Bret vs. Yoko as the WM9 main event to save Hogan further embarrassment. Lawrence Taylor isn't even a wrestler and had a better match than five of Hogan's seven outings (WM1 main event wasn't great either).

HBK/Taker 2 would be #1 I think. First half hour of Bret/HBK Ironman is too uneventful.

That match has received high grades and low grades(and in the middle too!) from just about everyone, your friend may be a mark for both, but its just one guy.

Maybe you're right. I had it at #2 since I do think Hogan/Andre is a worse wrestling match, but at least they had an incredible atmosphere. Hogan/Sid was bad, didn't belong in the main event, and had the worst ending to a WM main event ever (even worse than this year).

After listening to some discussion about Destination X on the radio today, I realize that last night I was being too flippant about it.

If you, the pro wrestling fan, the kind that generally finds distaste in the usual TNA fare, want to help bring about legitimate change for the better, you should order Destination X.

If it can be proven that people care more about a PPV built almost entirely around the concept of in-ring action, with almost no "angles" to speak of, than they do about the usual product, maybe, just maybe, it could actually open some eyes.

TNA has really underpromoted this PPV, to the point where the main event segments of every episode of Impact over the last month have had nothing to do with it. The entire build has been on the undercard. They're more interested in selling the continuation of the Immortal/Sting/Anderson storyline than they are about selling a PPV that essentially represents the roots of TNA.

Destination X represents the soul of the product, the good soul, and once again it gets to shine without being surrounded by the toxic, cancer-ridden organs that mangle the rest of the corpse beyond recognition.

So don't think of this $35 (or more for HD) as going entirely towards that night's card, and thinking "Wow, that was a great show but I'm not sure it was worth it." Think of it as an investment; an investment in a bright future for TNA and for the health of the industry overall, and speak out with your dollars against shoddy storylines and ridiculous booking.

Ironically, "Destination X" is only the beginning.

Oh I know, I was just making a joke that Taz being off the PPV was worth a buy moreso than anything else I wrote about.

I've never heard Borash on commentary either, but I at least know that he knows the product and doesn't think he's hilarious when he's not.

If he lets Tenay take the lead and set him up properly like he should, there should be no issue. I think Borash can handle being put on the spot about anything and everything regarding TNA and its wrestlers.
