Aside from the obvious lane switching...

It sounds like he was extended all the way to your turret fairly often. With no jungler, you in mid were in the best position to attempt to kill him for extending so far.

Red and I went 3 wins and 5 losses in ranked last night. Every loss was ridiculously bad.

The 3 wins were all with me playing singed whom I helped run games with which puts my singed-streak up to 5 games. But on the whole it was a frustrating night.

Standard deviation and all that, but I hope we rebound sooner rather than later.

Granted, I was playing a vs AI game to get a feel for her, but Anivia is pretty fun. I'm a little confused as to how her E works exactly and what time is good to use what, but practice makes perfect.

... I'd play with people, but I'm afraid that I'll get stuck on a team with no composition vs. tanky DPS jungler mayhem.

E does double damage if they are 'chilled' from one of her other abilities. Once the cold effect wears off they take normal damage from it (which isn't much).


Reds combo's typically start with an amazing wall and he has good knowledge of game mechanics.

Someone will be running away and he will drop a wall in front of them which usually connects on one side to impassable terrain. This will cause their champion to take the path of least resistance, which you can actually predict even if you don't connect the ice wall to a real wall. And so as soon as the wall is down he has an iceball going in the direction that they are now forced to take, the direction that their champion will automatically be moving even if they don't press anything. And so unless they have crazy good reflexes to change their new pathing they are ice balled and E'd. And even if they dodge the iceball they are usually dodging into the meat of a well placed Glacial Storm.

The thing about well placed walls is that even if they (your opponents) are playing perfectly they are usually forced into a disadvantageous situation. Either that or the expend a flash to get over the obstacle, which is still a win for your side.

It's one thing to know the abilities and generally how they should be used. It is quite another thing to have actual mastery of your character and be able to make execute the abilities with split second decisions. Red can do this with Anivia.

(And as his primary partner I know what red will be doing upwards of 95% of the time as he's doing it so my own decisions can further punish them for reds pro play, but that's just good teamwork)



Also people will tend to back off when the R drops to avoid a frostbite, but what you can do is toss the frostbite first and use super speed to drop the R around them (and get the chill effect) while the frostbite is mid-air. It can be a good way to get some unanticipated damage, but usually the theatrics are not necessary.

For those who are also looking for free stuff, here is

Biolizard's Guide to Smurfing the System

1. You should already know how to refer a friend but if not... well, look at the referral section on the site. Follow the referral link you're assigned and make a person. You need an email address for each, I'm pretty sure, but if you can remember an old one you never use, that's fine to. It only needs to be valid and you don't need to confirm anything.

2. Log in to your smurf.

3. Go directly to battle training and select Ashe as your champion. Summoner spells can be whatever, but I like ghost/revive. Ignore all secondary objectives.

4. Start with Doran's Blade and go mid. Pick Ashe's W to start. Soraka Bot also goes mid, but the bots are completely incompetent so Yi Bot can defend top by himself, maybe lose one turret. You will never be in serious danger of losing.

5. Farm as usual. If Nasus pushes out, and he does, often. Attack him. He will not move until he's about to die. If he escapes, he will try to recall directly behind his turret most of the time. W and tag him, then get out of the turret's range. Between this and minion farming, you'll have massive gold. If the turret hasn't fallen by five minutes, you're doing it wrong. All of the turrets in battle training have lower HP than normal.

6. Do what you can with the second turret and/or recall. Stack Doran's, but not before buying Berserker Greaves. Take out the turrets, still killing the foolish Nasus bot. Soraka will keep you sustained. The inhib will fall shortly. The nexus turrets are a joke and will fall in 6 or so attacks.

7. Target the nexus and stop for nobody. Do not attack minions or bots. You will attack the nexus. Constantly. You will die. Revive and make a run back to the nexus and finish what you started. You should finish in 15 minutes, 20 tops. You will have 450+ IP and be half way to level 3 from base 1.

8. From there, either go back to battle training to get not insane EXP or go to vs AI for moderate enjoyment. Repeat until level 5.

I find that solo queue games that low tend to be cluster ****s in either direction and too unpredictable. I can at least count on winning most AI games.

I leveled two smurfs off of PvP. It wasn't fun.

I ****ing hate solo queue.

My team's comp is always awful, and even if it's equal in terms of suck, they decide to feed one member of the enemy team (Last game, it was TF. You can imagine how that turned out) so nobody can catch up.

I just dodged the **** out of a game where someone wanted to play Kayle with heal and ghost. I'm not going to play a 4v5.

Though honestly, all my other games feel worse.

It's so ****ing depressing.

Heal isn't really dodge worthy especially at low level where you don't actually have access to most of the summoner spells (if you're talking about smurf play)

Revive, Smite on a non jungle character are dodge worthy. Heal's not ideal but you could do worse on Kayle. I'd argue Clarity's worse, even. Also clairvoyance is likely worse cause the Kayle probably wouldn't know how to use it.

I'm talking about level 16.

I mean, I really don't know what it is or why it happens. My last three games with people ended with a unanimous surrender after all five of the jokers ganked some players in the jungle and we mostly all got killed in a big team fight. I always feel like I'm on the ass end of teams. I'm not trying to play myself up to be better than I am, but I can't understand how I consistently get stuck with teams with either poor composition and an inability to fight or at least against teams that have our numbers at the ten minute mark.

Point stands though. I'd never dodge if a dude picked Heal + Ghost. I mean at least Ghost is a top tier summoner spell and you could do a lot worse than heal it's at least not dead weight like the other summoner skills I mentioned probably would be (well, clarity would be good depending on laning partner but I wouldn't trust it too much)

I've been trying out weird items on my characters, how is this? I've been experimenting with Stinger for AD carries. Now I know it's technically an AP item, but it doesn't have any AP on it until it upgrades, so you just don't upgrade it and it's fine.

It's only 1140 gold all together, and builds off of daggers, which you might get anyway. It's 15% less attack speed than a PD for less than half the gold, and you get a nice cooldown reduction.

Katarina is a ton of fun to play, but I'm absolutely terrible with her. I've been trying her out in bot games, and I get destroyed. Part of this could be because I like to use Shunpo for hitting and running, and bots can flip their attention and throw out their moves with no pause, but either way, I don't get it done with her. It's a pity.

Really only useful on someone like teemo, who can use the attack speed for IAS status carry, but will also make use of the CDR and AP in some measure once you upgrade it down the road.

Shunpo can do massive damage in a single attack. It's best used when the enemy is on their last legs or you know Shunpo will kill them.

I got insanely good in bot games with Katarina thanks to my smurfing, so if you have any other questions, allow me.

I've heard only bad things about Katarina, though I can't say anything firsthand. I've only used her once.

As far as cost goes Stinger is basically interchangeable with Zeal. And Zeal is more useful on the AD carries I'd play.

Recurve Bow is cheaper and will build into other stuff. So it comes down to whether you're getting your money's worth from that 10% CDR.

Katarina is great at harassing Carrys early game when they don't have enough damage to make her pay.

She can W, Shunpo in and eat damage, Q and your life bar drops fast.

In lane her ultimate is retarded if you don't have any CC.

In team fights she is stunned the second she makes a move and that's that. She's like Morgana in that for her ultimate to work she has to be in the middle of the team fight. Difference is Morgana builds tanky and opens with Zhonyas Hourglass which keeps her safe.

Katarina RAPES low-mid level pub games who don't know how to stop her. It's bad. She'll triple kill on her ult which lowers the CD and then she'll just do it all over again.

This. It's a god-tier item for Teemo, Kog'Maw, and Kayle. Everybody else need not apply.

Kat's most effective in the middle of a fight, but experienced players know exactly what she'll try to pull and will eat her alive if you try to shunpo in and ult. Katarina's an amazing pubstomper because she puts out tons of damage in a short amount of time, but experienced players know how to stuff her. Kat's still a great champion in her own right, but she needs to be a lot more careful to higher up the ladder you climb.
