Funny to hear that from you. After all, most of the 'boring and slow' stuff is essential character development.

Well, 'pretty bad' was kind of an overstatement, I guess (it's not really bad).

Sharin no Kuni, to me, felt like (well, I couldn't describe it like this at the time I read it, but now I can) G-Senjou no Maou except the side routes were mandatory. And AS2 just is not good at writing stuff like that.

I dunno, there's just something about Sharin no Kuni that irks me. It's not so much that it's slow, it's just uninteresting to me. Which is crazy, I know, because I generally don't mind slower paced stuff (hell I'm reading Wheel of Time book 8 right now and while I can certainly see why people complain about the pacing after book 5 it's not bothering me because I still like the characters enough to be okay just reading about them... and the impeccably decorated rooms they're in in their stylish dresses and suits).

I totally recommend reading the fandisc so long as you enjoyed Houzuki in game by the way. It thematically completes the game too and has Houzuki's amazing mentor.

Really loving the music here. Very passive soundtrack, but it still feels powerful.

Sharin's twist might be my favorite VN twist ever. Only problem with it is that it doesn't really have any consequences, but it still makes for an awesome moment. Symphonic Rain's twists are put to better use in terms of storytelling, but they don't quite have the same instant punch.

Pft, they're totally different so that doesn't really matter. I liked main game Houzuki way more. Though he still has some fun moments in the fandisc.

finished natsumi's arc

epilogue was meh, but chapter 5 was so damned amazing. Houzuki and Isono god tier, and the main character's almost as awesome as Kyousuke! ...almost

guess I'll do Ririko's sometime tomorrow after the chemistry final that determines whether I have to retake the course or not... the final I've neglected studying for over SnK >__> aww yeah procrastination

Kenichi needs the SHCI badge, plus you could always go as bad End Kenichi.

You'd be more recognizable as Azai Kyousuke probably; the G sen downloads have exceeded the Sharin downloads IIRC, although I may be thinking of the reset numbers instead of the total ones.

MLA > YMK > Edelweiss = Hanachirasu > Kikokugai > MLU > Wind > MLE

Final version of OsaDai isn't out yet. Edelweiss has a retranslation coming, which will make the game infinitely better, so wait for that. Hanachirasu and Kikokugai are pretty short, so you should just check 'em both out and decide for yourself. Wind is thoroughly meh and not worth playing at all. So yeah, ML and YMK should be your highest priorities there.

yeah the first song you play is definitley one of the hardest you'll play in the game (unless you do hard mode all the way)

I usually dont like Music games but Symphonic Rain's were tolerable and kinda fun at times but I still skipped some to just cut to the damn chase

Yeah, the game just nuked me and crashed, losing progress from the last time I saved at 12/19 till where I was at 1/05 or so. **** you Rain Musique playing every two minutes, I'm trying to ctrl back to where I was >_>

On another note, yay Hard. Wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be considering the rhythm's exactly the same and you basically play only one song a million times over.

Not going to have any other VN's for the next few days due to unforeseen circumstances so I've been getting more and more into Symphonic Rain.

There definitely is some connection between Phorni and Arietta. Every theory I have sounds idiotic right now, but Phorni has some deeper meaning behind her existence. I CAN FEEL IT.

Both have MCs who start out as somewhat amoral badasses, but turn into boring goody two shoes in the end. It would've been nice if they'd at least had final chapter alternate bad ends where they stay on the wrong (interesting) path, rather than the generic path they went with.

Technically, neither of Maou's are final chapter, but they apply. SnK, though, you just must have missed it. There's a bunch of ways to get it, but it definitely fits exactly what you're talking about.
