I don't know what all is on there, but it has Severance and Ted Lasso and they're both fantastic. The first season of Silo was also pretty good.

I know of some of those but I don't know how good they are. There was also that show See which I've heard good and bad things about.

bad shows would probably be harder to shrug off on a service with less content than most but comments online paint This as a quality over quantity thing and that absolute stinkers dont flood the board like Netflix as a result

I think I can definitely say that those two shows I mentioned are better than most everything I've seen on Netflix. I figure Netflix probably has more good shows in general though.

Only thing I watched was See, which wasn't terrible but didn't hook me like I thought it would.

Is it the best? No. At least the last time I tried it it didn't have very good variety. But what they did have was of decent quality

I think thats because Apple TV+ Only has exclusive content theres no filler shows/movies to pad out the library

severance is maybe the best show I've seen this year, and that includes succession, peacemaker, and yellowjackets, all of which I've liked very much.

This is the only provider that has had any new shows in the past 6 or so years I have any interest in. First Severance and now Drops of God is looking to be top tier as well. They're also one of the only providers (besides Paramount+) actually doing live sports as well.

Severance is not only better than anything I've seen on Netflix, it is probably better than anything I've seen on television (that's not based on a book or existing IP) this side of the DTV transition.

Apple TV+ has had a few great shows. It's also had some absolute hot garbage. And a lot of stuff that's just sort of somewhere in-between.

If anything, the saving grace of Apple TV+ is that it's not as popular as most other major services. People are way more critical of Disney+ content, because Disney is a huge name in entertainment pushing established franchises, so there are far more people looking at what's there and openly shitting on all of the bad stuff (of which there is a lot). But because Apple+ is much more niche, a lot of its problems fly under the radar. The critical success shows are still getting signal boosted, but their terrible content mostly gets overlooked or ignored. Which kind of creates an unrealistically positive impression of the service as a whole.

It also helps Apple that they're not really chasing after established properties or franchises (yet). Except for a couple outliers (one of which firmly falls into the "hot garbage" category I mentioned earlier), they're mainly trying to push more original content. And bad original content tends to be less obvious to outsiders than bad derivative content. A bad Star Wars or Star Trek show is going to get shit on waaay more than a bad show you've never heard of that just sort of quietly vanishes into the shadows.

If Apple TV+ keeps increasing its subscriber-base (and other major services keep losing theirs), you'll probably start to see more and more negative critical reviews of Apple content.

Ultimately, you can absolutely find stuff worth watching on Apple TV+. But the same is true for most existing services. It's just that the good content on Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime all tends to get overshadowed a bit by the high-profile terrible failures.

If anything, the real problem of the modern age is that all of the really good content is spread out across dozens of platforms, so there's no real way to just pick one service and see everything worth watching.

To give NBC/Paramout/Whatever they're called now credit they have done a good job at making Discovery go away. I think someone along the line realized there was nothing that could be done to make that series good. Going 900 years in the future somehow made the show worse mixed with the fact they removed then added back the worst character in the history of the show (Tilly, literally worse than Neelix) is still baffling. This mixed with the two years between season 4 and season 5 of Discovery and zero press buzz make me think they throw out season 5 all together and just declare failure and start pushing SNW and LD which fans are both positive on.

Sorry if that was a bit of a ramble. Lots of things going on today.

If only there were some sort of promo for a number of free months that would allow you to explore their library for yourself to answer that question instead of aimlessly speculating to the void like this.
