2nd rd exceptions that work the same way as 1st rds
Positionless All-NBA awards (with the 65 game minimum)
You have more restrictions if you pass a 2nd tax apron (can't trade 7-year-away 1sts, can't send cash, can't use mid-level exception)
Teams can have more than 2 designated players (which is huge for the cavs as Evan Mobley will soon join garland and mitchell)
Teams can get draft prospect physicals before the draft if those prospects are attending the combine

Absolutely baffling shit happening with the Magic ticket pricing tonight.

Through the door price for nosebleeds is currently $105. The Magic have nothing to play for and are probably rolling out bench guys. The Cavs have nothing to play for and have ruled out their main guys.

Yes it's the last game of the season but this has never happened in previous years for the final game. Even when we play the premium teams like Lakers, Warriors, Celtics, etc then nosebleeds are $60 ish. For normal games they are $20-25.

The cheapest Magic season ticket this season was $600. So $105 for what is going to be a G-league type game is insane. I have absolutely no idea what is going on.

It was also super obvious Magic were sitting guys after the loss officially eliminated them the other night just from how the coach spoke in the press conference. Had clearly been given the directive to keep trying to win until it was officially over. You could tell from the Fultz / WCJ reaction too that their season was over after that game

He just signed his rookie extension didn't he? Even if he goes full-on simmons and sits out, as history showed us the sixers still basically got what they wanted anyway. IMO mavs need to just focus on building up as best they can.

If they made the playoffs, they sent their 1st this year to the knicks I think. I get tanking is uglier when it's done more blatantly on a per-game basis, but it was the right move to do it imo. This is a pretty good draft I hear, maybe the mavs can hit on a difference maker.

Their pick is top ten protected, so they could still lose it if they get bad luck in the lottery

if someone who loses out of the playin moves into the top 4 in the lottery and the mavericks slip to 11th they don't even get their own pick

could become a gigantic disaster very quickly

They have a just under a 80% chance of retaining their pick as of right now.

However, they have to play the Spurs still who are tied for the 2nd pick with Houston right now. So they could very easily win that game and then enter a coin flip scenario with Bulls/OKC over who is at 10. And if that happens then they could be potentially down to like 10-12% chance of retaining their pick if the coin flip (well really a lotto draw) doesn't go their way

Yeah he did, and I get what you are saying. My point of view is coming from the fact that we already know that Luka has been disgruntled...for like the majority of the year. He has some personal issues off the court, and it's already been reported/said that they/he misses Brunson and feels they fucked that up. Not to mention Cuban and the front office are not looking like the brightest NBA minds right now. I can see the frustration boiling over and demanding a trade in a year or two.

Still gives them enough time to remedy a couple of season, but as of right now I'm pretty confident in Luka leaving. Whether it be a trade, or he leaves after the contract.

For the record, while it obv could be just damage control by cuban, he did make a claim that they didn't even get a chance to sign brunson because his parents interfered and wanted him to go to NY. IF you believe him (He claims he was reading off texts in the piece), then luka shouldn't really hold that against them if they legit didn't even get to talk to brunson.

He was unrestricted as this was his 3rd contract.

Edit: Sorry not his 3rd contract, it's because he was a second rounder. 1st round contracts are fixed scale rookie deals that result in RFA. 2nd round contracts can be whatever so don't get the automatic RFA stipulations (I'm not sure if they are allowed to at all)

He was definitely unrestricted though, Dallas could not match. They could have extended him though before he hit free agency though, would have had to do so early in the 21/22 season before extension deadline

they had the chance to extend him in january 2022 for a reasonable number (much less than what he got from the knicks) and they chose not to because cuban is a complete and utter cheapskate through and through

100% an unforced error and blaming rick brunson working for the knicks is purely sour grapes (plus they already got penalized a 2025 second round draft pick for the tampering)

Clippers are the team I least wanted to play in round 1. Not because I think the Clippers will win, just that I think it's the least interesting of the options that they could have faced. Suns/Warriors would have been the most fun to watch I think.
