Do you think that was disrespectful to show up in jeans and sneakers on his wedding day?

A Kid was mercilesll mocked on social media after he showed up in JEANS and a T-SHIRT on his WEDDING DAY to a 16 YEAR OLD girl who wore a DRESS!!

A girl shared a clip of her teen best friend getting married to her casually attired groom that has gained 1.5 million views as he decided to wear a black t-shirt with grey washed jeans and sneakers compared to his skinny wife who wore a full on wedding dress.

People were wondering if he even knew he was getting married that day as both were still in their teens and people wondering why she married a slob like that

Do you think it was disrespectful of him to show up in jeans and sneakers on his wedding day?

Classless move on the guy's part. I mean, it's one thing not to dress up but he looks like he's coming straight from work. That might even be paint or something on his pants in the second pic.

Ironed button up shirt, clean black jeans, (non of this distressed bullshit) your best boots, freshly polished.

Maybe Irma because Im not really a fan of fancy events. At most, Ive worn my blues. But I honestly hate them. Most weddings, I do black dress pants or khakis for pants. And usually a button down shirt. I feel a tux would be way too dressed up for a guest to the wedding

That said, if your future wife is putting in the effort, you have to also my dude. Although I get the feeling this is a "forced to get married by the parents due to getting her pregnant" situation...

Youre assuming theyll say yes. But that may not be the case. Technically, forced marriage is already illegal in certain states. And I believe all states have laws where forced marriage would basically violate other laws. The reason people say yes is because saying no can carry other penalties. Things that someone can do to you that is legal. Sure, they cant kill you. But depending on who they are, they could ruin you. Or cause you to been in a financial bind with things like child support

I'm not sure how familiar you are with adulting, but most people don't buy tuxes, they tend to rent them afaik. Like a wedding dress, there aren't many occasions to wear a tux. And keep in mind if you're a groomsman (the other big time you'd wear a tux outside of your own wedding), it usually needs to match the other groomsmen so you're not even getting a second use there.

Know what's ALSO good for most formal events you're likely to attend? The normal business suit you wear to interviews and (depending on your profession) the office. Know what you don't wear to interviews and the office (unless you're playing a weird prank)? A tux.

Although a lot of people don't even go that far, and just use a blazer that matches a nice pair of slacks (or if it's a more casual gathering, one that offsets it in an stylish way).

Not really. There's no racist element to it at all. "White trash" would be (though that term is actually racist against non-whites, since the implication inherent in it is that white people are supposed to be better than whatever standard is being implied), but just "trash" carries no racist connotations.

It is, however, classist.

Indeed. A suit? Sure. You can wear a suit for lots of stuff. A tux? Not so much. Unless you're making a habit of going to balls, a tux is really only useful for your own wedding, and that's ideally a one-time thing (or maybe once every decade or two if you like renewing vows).

(I think only one person recognized the reference)

If you're old money or are otherwise part of Society (note the capital S before taking umbrage) then it's expected you own a tuxedo and your going to be wearing it after eighteen hundred hours.

I've never owned a tux and I no longer have any suits; when I did there was never any real occasion to wear a Tux and the suits seem overkill in retrospect. If I dress up these days it's black jeans, dress shirt, maybe a blazer or nice jacket; I never wear dress shoes anymore, they going to be steel toed or composite safety boots.

Is how adjectives work. White trash is trash that is white, carrying no implication that any other things that are white are also trash. Specifying that the trash is white implies that it is somehow noteworthy that they are, while the absence of such specification for trash of other races implies that it is not noteworthy in those cases.

The argument can certainly be made that "white trash" would not be racist against non-whites if "black trash," "brown trash," or any similar terms saw a similar presence in colloquial speech, but they don't, so it is.
