the album name's tattooed on his chest and he's made like 3 recreations of the album art over the years lmao

its fed his ego for years, literally "I feel like Im the last little bit of grunge rock", and he's upset he isn't given enough credit for it

also this gem *edit* actually putting in the full quote because it's even more ridiculous

Elden said his stance on the photograph changed after he reached out to Nirvana to see if the band would participate in an art show he was putting on. I was asking if they wanted to put a piece of art in the fucking thing, he said. I was getting referred to their managers and their lawyers. Why am I still on their cover if Im not that big of a deal?

When I saw this story I kept asking myself "why now, all of a sudden?" The dude clearly didn't have a problem with it before. I guess now I know.

To play devil's advocate, this happens a lot in abuse (sexual or physical) cases, where the victim seems ok with it for years, then finally the internal pain gets to them, and they realize they aren't ok with it, and all these years where they told themselves (and possibly even others) it was ok was just a coping mechanism. Even if they publicly embellished it at the time.

I don't believe that is the case here, but saying "why now?" isn't really a mark against him.

This is very true and something I would definitely keep in mind if this situation were any less cut and dry than it actually is

Also, if this suit ever had any chance at all of succeeding, he just torpedoed it by saying this. Hes publicly admitting he has an ulterior motive for it.

I know that this is a real thing that happens, but I don't believe that it applies here. It's not just that he was suffering in silence, or struggling to cope with it the whole time. He actively spent time embracing it and literally building his identity around it.

If this case actually goes anywhere, I believe that he's going to lose and the biggest point against him will be the degree with which he was okay with it for his entire adult life.

There are a lot of cases of this exact thing happening though. I just wanted to draw attention to how people embracing it in the limelight doesn't mean they aren't internally suffering from it. Sometimes trying to embrace it makes them feel better about it, and they try to play it off like it isn't something that is bothering them. They see other people getting enjoyment out of it, so they convince themselves that they do too.

I'm not saying he fits it here. But it's not something to immediately write-off just because someone has a history of showing that they 'enjoyed' it.

Yeah I know. But he's gonna have to come up with a solid response to it, because for sure that will be the main thing that they try to pin on him.
