I think since Trump left office, ratings must have imploded everywhere so people have found higher ratings in talking about Tucker Carlson instead. But why him?
I feel as though CNN and Fox are just bedbuddies keeping each other afloat by having peopel watch them go at it.

I have no issue with someone being a bullshit artist so long as they aren't taken seriously and people continue to think for themselves on whether amidst the bullshit there may have been a valid sentiment.

As I understand it he made a hyperbolic statement likening forcing children to wear masks to child abuse. He is clearly of the oppinion that masks are doing more harm than good to them. Do you think the children are wearing masks on their own accord? Do you think people will really report the parents because he said to?

Also he said to approach even adults and tell them to take their masks off. Said to say "your mask makes me uncomfortable"

And said wearing a mask should be made as unpopular socially as lighting up a cigarette in an elevator

That's for someone else to answer. I don't know how much it limits their oxygen intake, how much it increases their exposure to other contaminants picked up by the fabric over time, or how not seeing the face of their friends/family or expressing their own facial expressions would impact social development. I understand people can have concerns like these. I don't think we've gathered enough data over time to alleviate those concerns.

So in other words, "I have no problem if someone tells dangerous lies under a thin veneer of credibility by playing to people's existing biases, so long as they're my biases too"

You can't trust people to parse the bullshit from the "valid sentiment". It's not some thought exercise challenge. It's about riling people up and they know exactly what they're doing.

The core audience of Tucker Carlson doesn't watch him as some kind of game to fact check him. They watch him because he plays to their pre-conceptions, and that makes them exactly the kind of people who lack the proper scrutiny to see what's bullshit. He just tells people want they want to hear

Man I imagine a lot of them are grandparents and theyre probably eating dinner when they watch his show in some cramped living room with their gruel on little trays

Was anything Carlson said a statement fact or was he voicing his opinion? You can't fact check an opinion. Although the side usually erred on is in trying to. Rarely do people err on the side of concluding something is just what one person thinks. Perhaps that is where the fault lies. Nothing else in your post shifts this fault from the audience.

If your opinion is based on cherry picking facts, misinterpretations of data, things that are outright false altogether, etc., then your opinion is kind of dog shit. Especially when you're speaking on matters that can very negatively affect people's lives. You even seem to agree that he says "bullshit" yet you are downplaying it. Why? It's harmful. People don't like to be lied to. He wouldn't be popular if the people who liked him realized they were being wound up and strung along... because then they wouldn't like him. It's paradoxical. Being a successful "bullshit artist" requires people to believe the bullshit, and I don't see why that's something to be okay with.

I know the reality obviously is that conservatives don't actually care about the facts, even though they like to say stuff like "facts don't care about your feelings". They just want someone to agree with them even if there isn't compelling evidence for their position. I mean look how they can never keep the story straight. Facts are important when they say they are but other times "it's just an opinion". I never see leftists say that "you're not actually supposed to take what he says seriously" when their idols get challenged on their takes.
