For example, I am so glad that was a little kid when Jurassic Park came out in theaters. That was an absolutely mind blowing experience. Im also happy I was a preteen during the Attitude era in wrestling.

Anything you feel fortunate over in regards to media experiences?

Watching Lost live as it aired from day 1 was definitely the best possible way to watch that. All the discussion of theories and spoilers and stuff was so fun and you just cant get that if you watch it now.

I was lucky enough not to be spoiled on Undertale at all, so I went in playing it like a normal RPG and it really started kicking my ass for that later.

Same for DDLC, being spoiled on that probably wouldn't have been as big of a deal but the meta elements were pretty surprising.

I never watch movies twice. Like, ever. But I saw The Matrix twice in theaters. The second time, when they're pulling Neo out of the system, my entire body literally went numb up until the point where he's having food with the crew. It was one of the freakiest moments of my life.

Life is Strange (followed each episode as it released)

Breaking Bad (started when S4 was airing, binged it in 2 weeks just in time to watch the S4 finale live)

Inception (dragged to it by friend, knew nothing about it other than it was the Batman guy)

The first star wars movie I ever saw was Revenge of the Sith...at a midnight premiere.

I dunno if this really applies but I felt like posting it anyway. It's always been my favorite because of that, even though I don't think it's the best one

I will definitely second LOST. First show I watched from the beginning and followed religiously and wanted to watch every week.

Watching IT when I was 6 years old is a good one for me. It terrified me but I connected to the kids in it and it still made me super interested in other scary things which guided my life all the way up until now really.

Playing the Resident Evil series in release order right, finishing right before trailers and the hype machine started rolling for Resi 5. No game will ever match the excitement and pure vigor I had for that game at the time, it was just a perfect storm.

The first thing that comes to mind is watching A Quiet Place in a theater. That experience is probably the sole reason it's one of my favorite horror movies to this day.

On reflection, I'd also name A Short Hike as a much more recent example of this, where I'd say my decision to play it essentially blind and unguided, my mental state the day I played it, and the place I'm at in my life conspired to make it a truly special experience.

Speed Racer in IMAX.

also Legend of Chun Li on opening night. It's the first and only movie I've ever done opening night for and my friends and I almost got in line with a bunch of teenage girls who were there for a midnight showing too and we were like "huh I guess Kristen Kreuk really appeals to the girls" before realizing they were there for I think a Hannah Montana movie and the Chun Li movie was on the other side of the theater. Then a couple dudes almost got into a fight during the middle of the movie for some stupid reason and after the movie they yelled at each other some more in the parking lot before security had to chase them away.

What a wondrous experience.

I've recently been playing co-op Yoshi's Crafted World with my nephew. He's the same age I was when I first played Yoshi's Island many moons ago. I can't imagine a better set of circumstances for playing this.

Generally speaking, any local 4-player game is almost assuredly best in a college dorm. For me and my buddies, ChuChu Rocket on the Dreamcast was a hit in particular.

For something a bit more specific: listening to Sade's first three albums back-to-back while wandering the near-empty terminals of DFW Airport during an overnight layover.

The Ace Attorney series, for the most part, spoiler free, as the games released in the West.

I got tipped off that I would eventually defend a guilty client in the series, but I didn't know when that would happen, so I still got floored when the situation happened.

Lost is a terrific example for reasons mentioned above.

The first couple of Survivor seasons were good, it was more of a water cooler event with a small mix of internet discussion.

I was a young teenager for Terminator 2, so, that was perfect.

Seeing JP in the theater was awesome as well.

Transformers (cartoon) in the theater broke my heart and I don't think I've ever recovered.

Watching some recent kids movies with my kids has been a treat (sometimes)

Final Fantasy X in a weird way. I played it when I was about 9 or 10 and thought it was super cool but didn't really understand what was going on or the depth to it. Never got to the end.

Then for a long time I wrote it off as probably something dumb I liked when I was a little kid before giving it another chance at like 19 or 20 years old when I could actually grasp the underlying concepts and I could really appreciate the story and characters more. I hardly remembered anything of the game so it was almost like playing it for the first time.

This led to a unique situation where I both have the nostalgia of playing it as a young kid, and the appreciation for the deeper aspects that comes with playing it at an older age. Also the timing of when I played it as a young adult was perfect for other reasons but that's for a much longer write-up!

Also, I binge read the Harry Potter books before Deathly Hallows Part 1 came out so I could go see it with my friends in the theater but I didn't quite finish the seventh book.

The movie cut off exactly where I stopped reading. I was so stoked I went home and stayed up until 5am reading the rest of the book.

I had this very recently with Death Stranding. I waited for the PC version so I only ended up playing it over the last month or so, and what with everything that's going on in the world, the timing felt absolutely unreal. I'm personally struggling a bit with the unending isolation brought on by the pandemic so the game's themes of connection in a world where everyone is cut off from one another landed ridiculously well. Kojima's prophetic nature from MGS2 was 100% back in full swing with that game.

I had an oddly similar situation playing Virtue's Last Reward during the pandemic, with me reading the article about 100,000 deaths due to Radical 6 at about the same time the USA hit 100,000 deaths due to COVID-19.

Yeah when Toy Story 3 came out I had just graduated high school and was absolutely dreading moving away for college, and it destroyed me.

My first playthrough of Uncharted 2 I had a bad flu (temperature spiking to 103 IIRC) and as I got deeper in I was exhausted and completely bundled up due to chills, which made arriving in the mountain areas weirdly immersive

Nearly every good movie is the perfect experience when I go into it blind, not knowing anything or even watching the trailer.

Almost every midnight showing/opening night for a blockbuster was close to perfect as well, even when the movie itself doesn't hold up as well on repeat viewings.
