I have a pretty clear top 3 but I like that whole division :\

Defog immediately stood out to me as being full of absolute garbage. But there's pokemon I like there.

Better not do Incineroar dirty like some of the other starters so far

Defog basically has two Pokemon that should be obvious eliminations, but then everything else could theoretically get enough hate to secure that third spot, even though none of them are bad.

I don't understand why he's so hated in the first place. Most hated Pokemons I understand, but he's a weird one.

People really wanted the cat to stay a quadruped.

Also a lot of silly "it's just another Fire/Fighting in spirit" stuff.

Unown is such a bad pokemon that it's not even a pokemon anymore. It has no legal moves and will never be in another game as an actual pokemon; in Legends Arceus it was present only as a plot device (which is exactly what it SHOULD be)

For what it's worth, there was VERY little positive support for Shellder, I think Shellder just benefited from there being a very weak bottom three in that div

My appreciation for Orthworm went up when I realized it has secret arms. I hope it gets an evolution now that they're back on the table, though. Where the past few generations felt like their 1 or 2 stage Pokemon were mostly fully realized (either design-wise, stat-wise, or gimmick-wise), Gen IX has a bunch of Pokemon that don't feel complete like that. I kinda think it's intentional for future cross-gen evolutions.

I was gonna say "Orthworm has strong enough stats and its own gameplay niche with Shed Tail and Earth Eater, it doesn't need to evolve" but uh

the Rotom phone gimmick is whatever, but having 6 forms and 3 of them are somewhat good competitively is neat!

on the other hand, i expect all of the pan- and simi- monkeys to take the bottom spot in every single division theyre in. i genuinely have never heard of a single person who likes those monkeys and doesnt think theyre a complete waste of a Pokmon slot

If i remember correctly basically the only niche they have going for them is that theyre the only non-starters (+ smeargle, technically) who can learn fire/water/grass pledge?

edit: i am mostly correct but mew and silvally are also non-starters that learn all three of them

Since then, they've been careful to make monkey pokemon with much better designs.

the "-pour" ones are the only of the six designs i outright hate. i definitely like the other four more than some pokemon i probably shouldn't lol

as for rotom, i really dislike the direction for it in recent gens. the whole rotom dex thing is fine as an idea, but in execution i just find myself thinking that its completely unnecessary.

I like the monkeys quite a bit actually. Theyre cute. But I realize Im kind of alone in that, so Im not shocked Simisear got obliterated.

The Kubfu hate is weird though.

I don't think they're good by any means but like a -81 in a division that isn't overly strong seems excessive.

I just hope Simipour does worse, and Simisage manages to live.

well for one theres six of them instead of 1-3 and they all have identical stats and basically nothing going for them from a battle perspective either

I think they would be viewed less as complete wastes of space if they only took up 3 spots and didnt evolve, or if they all evolved from a common baby (like a tyrogue situation)

now that were in an era of only portions of the dex making it into each game, those 6 monkeys could be cutting your two favorite 3 stage lines! Or your three favorite 2 stage lines!

plus there are already a lot of great monkey Pokmon that everyone likes that they have to compete with

I think them being forced into the party earned them hatred.

Were they? I just think they went overboard a bit when it's basically color swaps. Keep Pansage and Simipour (make it green it works) and delete the rest imo. They're not great but they're thr best basic form and evolution of the bunch imo.

Sure but too much exposure compared to what one finds them worth tend to get people to dislike things even more.

Star of the Day: Sandile
Neither division winner set their divisions on fire, so I'll give the nod to Sandile for a pretty solid performance for a gen 5 unevolved mon. It's no Joltik but pretty good!

Dud of the Day: Magmar
At this point, Cinderace is just doing par for the course for later-game starters, but Magmar put up one of the most lacking performances by a fully evolved gen 1 mon yet. Running 30 points behind Weezing?

I knew Milcery would die, but I'm a little bummed. I think I like it more than Alcremie. It's just a cute lil blob. Cinderace living is a bigger disappointment.

Also shame on you for (sort of) almost killing Yamper. >:(

I mean they haven't been in since XY which was before Dexit so they aren't causing any harm!
