Luster Soldier (16) - One of the 3 legendaries that has a major role in the main story of Sword/Shield. It has a special form known as Eternamax Eternatus, which you get to battle in the main story as part of a Max Raid Battle. Eternamax has an insane BST of 1125, beating out both Mega Mewtwo (both forms) and Mega Rayquaza at 780 BST. This form wasn't intended to exist outside of the game's story, but someone has tried hacking the game to catch Eternamax and use it in-game in a variety of different situations. XIII_Rocks (17) - I can't not rank a Pokemon with base 24341324 stats and hilariously conspicuous CGI in the anime high.
Inviso (18) - I just think it looks cool. It's not greatly-utilized in the story, because SwSh has a bad storyline, but Eternatus is pretty badass as a legendary.

andylt (45) - Super edgy, but I don't hate it. Having not played these games, it does not look like it'd be in a trio with the dogs.
mnk (70) - What even is this thing? It looks even less like a Pokemon than the Ultra Beasts.
Paratroopa1 (73) - looks kind of cool if you view it from PRECISELY the correct angle where any of its geometry even kind of makes sense
Bane_Of_Despair (76) - It is pretty cool looking and once again I really like the color scheme, but I think it goes a liiiiiittle too outside the confines of being a Pokemon. I've never been the biggest fan of "alien" Pokemon anyway, not that I dislike them as much as some people but I generally prefer ones that are closer to existing animals/things.

finally. holy hell i fucking hated sword and shield. the game was cut short and then its like "lol heres eternatus who the fuck knows what this thing is"

I don't have a fucking clue what they were trying to do. Its got limbs coming out of everywhere, its got a dumb color scheme, its too big to ever figure out what is going on with it. It wraps up the worst game in the franchise in the worst way possible.

Possibly. I just really hate this thing. Sword/Shield almost killed Pokemon for me. I didn't even blink at the gen 4 remakes, just watched the release go by and never considered purchasing. And that was a gen with a ton of my favorite Pokemon.

I ended up hearing they sucked and continued to not buy them.

It is about as arbitrary as the last half of sword and shield. Possibly my least favorite of all Pokemon. Possibly i'm probably forgetting something.

if the way someone enjoys their time with pokemon is playing competitively they're going to favour pokemon who they enjoy using in that context

i find it soulless and shallow to vote solely based on design but it seems to be the primary thing for a lot of you! i always found it weird because this isn't "board 8's best pokemon design" but voting based on anything else is looked down on.

Luster Soldier (13) - Cute Pokemon with a design somewhat resembling Whimsicott (similar body type). Unlike Whimsicott, it is inferior to it because it is only a pure Grass type while Whimsicott has a secondary Fairy type.

Bane_Of_Despair (36) - Really like the giant cotton fluff for the head, it pulls it off with elegance and grace. I'm not generally a huge Grass-type design lover but this is a winner for me.

Yeah, this. Maybe if the games had even a modicum of difficulty or if I played competitive, I'd try using something I didn't like because it was strong, but they aren't and I don't, so there's just no reason for me to do that.

The games are more fun when you do stupid shit like "fuck it I want all 3 Lycanroc at once". Then all of a sudden you've got massive type weaknesses and shit to overcome.

i get a good enough brain itch from min-maxing whatever the game. i don't play against other players so my eyebrows raise every time you say "competitive", i just have more fun finding ways to be efficient in games. steamrolling everyone with a level 100 wouldn't do anything for me but a guy whose exact type combination let me sneak past a fight that could have been tough, or particular set of moves that let me steamroll an annoying dungeon are the sorts of things that would stick with me well before like, what a pokemon looks like.

I was honestly more curious what makes him competitively interesting since most people wouldnt even play the tiers hes available as far as i know.

If we're basing it on competitive usefulness might as well not have NFEs except for, like, Murkrow and Doublade.

I think my approach to these rankings prioritize personal bias for Pokemon I use in my teams, design, uniqueness/gimmicks, gameplay, and then others (like its role in the story, name, or whatever).

I can get this in the sense that I like to maximize my team's type efficiency, even if that means benching some of my most liked designs because they don't fit, but I still have to at least like the design to want to put it on my team.

Well, that's how I used to play before they forced the exp share on everyone, but now I just rotate like 12+ Pokemon in and out. There's like no team building element left for me to consider anymore... :(

I think I forgot about Duraludon's existence in the time between making my list and when that post was made.

i get this too because exp share has made it like, completely inefficient to just keep a team of guys you like when you could so easily be working on your pokedex by dragging along your unevolved mons the entire game
