I'm pleased to inform you that nope, they're actually really good in both singles AND doubles. Prankster goes pretty crazy when you've got the moveset to make it work.

I dunno about actual competitive, but Grimmsnarl has been a good support Pokemon in many of S/V's 7* raids.

Unless things have recently changed with the new DLC, Grimmsnarl has been a top competitive Pokemon since gen 8

I probably would've had Greedant lower, but (S/V spoilers) he's on Arven's team, and that makes him okay in my book.

Greedent is better than Raticate, Linoone, Bibarel, Watchog, and maybe Gumshoos. But that's not really saying much.

Also huh, I guess we didn't really get a standard early rodent for Gen IX. I guess people might count Tandemaus, but ehh, doesn't feel the same.

That's our first non-single-stage fully-evolved one to drop, I believe. I'm a little surprised it showed up before it's pre-evolution, too.

Kubfu is fine. I welcome more NFE legendaries and I like it's personality and function. Something about it just looks awkward to me, so it's hard for me to get all jazzed up for it.

Greedent is very much the definition of an inevitable design to get out of the way. It's great for what a route 1 "rodent" should be, but most feel like filler to me, and the ones that don't have the power of memes on their side. I kind of feel bad rating it so low, but (spoilers) skwovet fares better for me at least!

fat squirrel > regular squirrel

I don't "hate" it like my ranking might imply, it just got lumped in with my "I don't care and don't have any positive feelings" group like my bottom ~10 or so, so it got pushed to the bottom because there was no justification to move it.

Ranking two middle evolutions of starters waaaaay low. Thwackey is pretty average, but not as painful on my eyes as Drizzile. It's fine I guess. Middle evos don't really "have to" stand out, unless they're Pokemon with trade evolutions and you got no friends :p

Skwovet is just cute and charming and not awkward enough for me. Still middling, but definitely the kind of thing I wouldn't mind having around if Pokemon were just regular pets or whatever.

Looking at Thwackey again, I'm pretty sure most of my problem with it is just the ugly shade of green they used. If it was the same color as Grookey, I think I'd be totally fine with it.

Luster Soldier (41) - One of the new additions to the legendary golems, alongside Regieleki. The design of this one not as good as Regieleki. Im not sure which addition will ruffle more peoples feathers the most - 2 new Regis or one new legendary genie with a feminine appearance (Enamorus). Both legendary groups (golems and genies) are undoubtly among the least popular legendaries with the fans.

XIII_Rocks (51) - I can sort of get on board with Regieleki, but to me Regidrago is a complete departure from the Regi "theme" of being mineral-based stuff. I get that they each represent a historical period, but "steel, ice, rock, electricity" and then "DRAGONS" just doesn't work for me. Still, I don't hate the design.
Inviso (58) - Basic design, though making a Dragon-type Regi is a strange choice. It's just not one I care about all that much.
andylt (64) - Still don't understand what this thing is made of. Crystallised dragon energy? What even is that? Odd typing choice for a regi.
mnk (66) - What an odd choice for a new Regi.
Paratroopa1 (77) - I do not think the world needed more regis

Bane_Of_Despair (78) - I like the color scheme and the dragon head encompassing it, it tickles my goofiness a bit, but this is about where I have to place it for objectively not being THAT great of a design.

PrinceKaro (88) - gamefreak: we need you to design a dragon type regi robot for the new game! artist: what the fuck should it be built out of dismembered dragon parts or... gamefreak: *shrug*

Dottler - It's boring like cocoon mons tend to be, except worse in some ways because it doesn't even look like a Pokemon with all its weird unnatural geometric shapes. I don't loathe it, though.

Impidimp - Bright pink with a purple tongue doesn't work for me. Another which imo doesn't look like a Pokemon, and is just sorta ugly, though not to a huge extent. It's barely tolerable. I don't mind mischevious imp archtypes, but this one has all of the annoying with almost zero charisma. Its reveal was underwhelming too.

Arctovish - I hate this Pokemon conceptually and fundamentally. It's just animal cruelty. The only reason it's not dead last is because the Pokemon below this are either even stupider or extremely ugly.

Gossifleur - Cute tbh. I actually like it a bit more than its #55 placement would imply, but I just struggled to justify putting it any higher. It feels so... ineffectual?

Kubfu - I like bears, but I've never been big on Pokemon bears. Teddiursa and Cubchoo are both meh, and this is also meh. In fact, this is even meh-er than those ones. It just looks like a brat. Still, it's a little fighting bear, and that's neat, so it's ok. It's not ugly, it doesn't have a stupid concept, so it still manages to be #57 for me almost by default.

Greedent - I definitely get a "creepy cereal mascot" vibe from this Pokemon, but definitely not to the same extent as other people seem to. Slightly overhated, in my opinion. But it's not exactly something I love. The fact it actually looks like an animal puts above most things that have dropped so far for me. It's ok.

Thwackey - I kinda like it. Not ugly imo, has no weird unnecessary lines, doesn't look weirdly geometric, actually looks like an animal and has a decent attitude/personality. Pretty fine with me. Completely disagree with it going out this early.

Skwovet - I actually like this quite a bit less than Greedent and it's mostly down to its stupid face. Yes, it's less "creepy" than Greedent, but the bloated cheeks look way more ridiculous. It's A-Raticate all over again.

Regidragon - Completely unnecessary legendary and conceptually hard to grasp, but the design is... fine, I guess.
