Today is the day of endless anime. My god. I haven't watched even half of it yet but all on one day we have:

Vampire shut in (which has a lot of yuri fanservice)
Spy x Family 2
Faraway Paladin 2
Survive with potions
Tearmoon

and then some weaker ones like
Returners magic (a manwha adaption, thats kinda cool)
Demon Excalibur
The pig isekai
Ragna Crimson

Thats 9 shows I'm watching on saturday.

That's insane. I'm watching 2 shows this season and I might drop one of them and both of them air in Sundays. We are having opposite seasons here because I think we like the opposite kind of things.

Happy to hear a good isekai is getting an anime, will look forward to it.

Watched Jitsu wa Ore, Saikyou deshita?. It wasn't very good and felt like one of those isekai that just tries to check boxes of successful isekai. Which can be fine, but it also felt very simplistic as well. It was watchable, but not something I'd recommend.

Next up I'm watching Undead Girl Murder Farce. First episode was intriguing.

Well you seem to only be interested in a small part of one genre whereas I watch pretty much every genre except idol so thats just bound to happen I suppose. I will probably drop a couple shows but I wouldn't be surprised if I finish 25 shows this season. I'm still watching Helck and JJK from last season as well. My current drop candidates are ragna crimson, demon excalibur, and our dating story. Already dropped guard dog (what an unpleasant show).

I felt pretty disappointed by the first arcs conclusion and dropped it. A bit sad about that. I'd really love a good mystery anime but they just can't make one IMO. The last one I really enjoyed was Hyouka. I feel a lot of mystery anime suffer from the protagonist being smarter than the writer, which makes them make giant leaps that actually end up with quite a few holes the author just didn't see. Hyouka had a strong advantage there because they weren't trying to actually conclusively solve most of the cases, they were just trying to come up with any plausible solution.

I watched I will survive with potions and it's kind of fun but at the same time it's a really poor utilization of the power she has. She could just make a potion that makes her immortal and have godlike powers or something and if she can't do that, they should at least explain why. It's basically a cheat code to do anything at all. Hell she could make a potion that once drunk spawns gold coins all around her for a few minutes and completely skip the entire plot of the first episode.

FUNA's protagonists (Mitsuha from 80k gold, Mile from average abilities isekai) always have incredibly broken powers that they intentionally underuse. That unfortunately never really goes away entirely, because as you said, that would completely skip the plot of the episode. The author has some kind of fixation on girls trying to live quiet humble lives but always backfiring horrifically

I thought that this felt similar to 80k. I guess my issue is that they seem to want me to theorycraft what I would do with those powers. They frame the solutions the characters come up with as clever. If the main character was an airhead it'd be a lot more palatable that they just didn't think to use their powers to more directly solve their problems.

Although I do feel 80k was more fun to theorycraft about. Just being able to go back and forth isn't quite as broken as a "do anything potion". I just feel like it'd take two seconds to hand wave us some reason why she can't make the potions actually do anything. Maybe some limit based on the rules of the world the goddess can't break or it'd cause a distortion or something (although I guess the lore is that their world is unregulated). Could even add some tension where if a potion is breaking the rules of the world, it explodes or becomes poison or something. That'd leave some obvious solutions as last resorts because they become risky.

Us yuri fans eating good (well relative to normal) this season. Stardust telepath is some adorable ass yuri. I am kind of tired of characters that borderline can't speak from social anxiety. Streches out every bit of dialogue to like 5x what it should be with all the stuttering and stammering. We get yuri fanservice in witch family circumstances and vampire vexation and a little bit in Shy. We get in love with the villainess as well and theres a few other anime that could go in a yuri route.

Shirobako was great. Even though it's fine to end where it did, I'd love another season. Granted it really highlights how needlessly stressful the anime industry is. I guess maybe it's because a lot of adaptations are designed to air at a time that is optimal to promote the source material but anime companies would just take an extra season to actually finish making the thing before airing it, we would see a lot fewer delays and still the same amount of anime being made.

Wow, is this going to become a genre now? I'm down. Just watched 100 girlfriends which has almost the exact same premise as girlfriend, girlfriend except here instead of dating two girls, he has to date 100 and any he doesn't date will die. It's the most contrived harem setup possible but it feels like it knows that and is running with it. The God of Love in the show was pretty funny. Some of the humor was breaking the 4th wall a little too quickly IMO but I'll still continue for now. Also that tsundere has gotta be the most tsundere tsundere I've seen in quite some time.

The fact that we have 2 anime of this same subtype of harem genre in the same season is kinda wild.

Wasn't released through Subs Please so it might get the Komi-san S2 treatment (aka I will probably not watch it). Shame because it has been on my manga to read list for a while.
I actually watched Crunchyroll TV For a few hours today. Caught the start of Deca-Dence and some weird Policy Comedy/Drama thing. Honestly both of them weren't that bad and I might watch the station in the mornings but I might get annoyed very quickly when I miss an episode or two (which is the issue with TV). Honestly, if I actually had any paid subscription services I'd probably watch some less serious dubbed anime while I worked.

16-bit sensation vibes with me on multiple layers. This is a time travel anime about vintage game dev where the main character is a bishojo otaku artist sent back to 1992 where the main programmer is programming a PC98 in x86 assembly.

Apparently episode 2 of 16-bit sensation was written by the guy who wrote Kizuato and Shizuku, which were both incredibly influential PC-98 games. Kizuato basically inspired Tsukihime, and Shizuku is the forefather of the denpa genre (Higurashi and Chaos;head being probably the most well known of the genre- basically the world gets more and more fucked up but only the main character perceives it). That's fuckin cool.

I am really into all of the programming references that you can see throught. They're making games for PC-98 and the programmer is using x86 assembly on what I'm assuming is MS-DOS. My knowledge of video game source code at the time (basically just the Gen 1 Pokemon games) and that is very similar in style to their development environments at the time (which makes sense as Gen 1 was developed in the early 90s). Also the OP is 65435 which is the maximum value you can store in an unsigned 16-bit integer (hence referencing the show and the 16-bit where the show is taking place).

I know you guys already hyped it up for me but 100 girlfriends is great. The vice principle almost had me in tears. i wonder if he's ever gonna tell the girls about the love god and that he has a 100 soulmates and they'll die if he doesn't end up with them. It is nice to have a harem anime thats hard committing to the harem route (or I guess mass murder but I'm presuming harem ending).

Mid-way through The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten I found out that they're making a second season and that's great because I finally finished it tonight and hope that it gets the post-confession arc a series like Horimiya got. Lots of people claim that the romance genre stops at the confession but there are a lot of shows airing right now that have very good post-confession arcs, namely my favorite ongoing manga BokuYaba of course.

In retrospect Winter 2023 was jacked. I am actually thinking of watching Apparently, Disillusioned Adventurers Will Save the World which is outside of what I normally watch but after having seen a couple of episodes of the dub it interests me and we're nearing the time of the year where I have more free time than usual and not enough to do with that time.

Ok, watching the first episode of Hyakkano, and I am taking this way this joke way too seriously but when the love god mentions watching Laputa for the first time, the translators do not translate Laputa as Castle in the Sky, which is really annoying me. Censorship is always really weird to be because of how iconic Laputa is as a movie, and the fact they both show a censored Laputa and play Kimi wo Nosete during the scene (twice) but can't even translate the name of the film correctly...

I've only seen the first season of stray dogs so I can't say. Reception seems positive. It's the highest rated season on MAL (each season goes up about 0.2 points it seems).

Apothecary diaries just started and as I heard it would be, it was great. Dropped 3 episodes all at once. While the genre isn't really my favorite, the main character has a lot of charm and the story telling and directing is very solid. I was sad when I ran out of episodes.

Yeah but it's a better plot to be honest. The last few episodes have been fantastic. Itadori's last fight has got to be one of the best like equal level fights in shonen anime. No taking the rest of the cast's opinion on every action and technique, logical albeit simple plans, great animation, hard to predict outcome. They did such a good job of making the fight in the bathroom feel claustrophobic.

Realistically plotwise I think nobody has time to be concerned with anything but what is currently happening.
