One can make the argument that Yoda plays a similar role in Episode VIII that Rock describes.

I shouldn't have made that one comment about people hating TLJ coming off as spiteful. Not because I don't believe it, but because I thought I was just trying to clear something up which this board probably knew full well. Plus to be fair it's pretty easy to understand why fans would react like that even if it is still dumb.

I yawned during a lot of it

They need to realize these big action series finale episodes are a weakness and lean into what makes the show popular

I enjoyed the finale a great deal. It could have been tightened a little bit, but it had a lot of high points. Of course, nothing tops Andrew Meyer being Andrew Meyer.

Yep.

Which is pretty much giving us as little star wars as possible and just having a western with tight dialogue and beautiful shots

Mandalorian is one of the first properties in awhile that actually feels like vintage Star Wars.

Mandalorian really knows how to lean into the mood of the franchise. It's evocative in the same way that the original films were. BoBF didn't really manage to hit that same feeling a lot of the time.

Best moment of the episode was Grogu and Din reuniting, but the finale to the duel with Cad was really solid as well. Everything that happened in this episode, the only parts I really didn't care for were the same as the earlier season - the mods really take me out of it.

But we've all been on gfaqs for years, we know how bad mods can be.

I think the other thing that bothered me is general bad tactics. Like, they wanted their western shootout, but Mandalorian has managed to do those without feeling like they're gimping the characters. I mean, Mandalorian literally had an episode where they were under siege, and it felt a lot more like the characters wanted to survive it then.

My gut reaction was that the prior episode outshined the finale, but extended action scenes like this are tricky and they did it as well as could be expected. Kind of puts a bow on the whole Bobba Fett story for the moment, which, let's be honest, not many even cared about after the last two episodes of the Mandalorian.

I think Grogu really showed Mando that he was capable of assisting rather than just be someone in need of defending. It will probably take Mando a while to acknowledge that, but I look forward to seeing the transition of them working more as a team.

I also cannot wait for this Obi-Wan series. Sad there won't be a Mando cameo in it, haha, but it will provide some great lore as to what Obi Wan was up to between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

I loved the show. Prior to this, I thought Boba Fett was the most overrated nobody in the series. Now I legitimately love the dude and I would put him in a top ten. The Tusken stuff was endearing. I loved how he tried to be a real leader with a personality instead of the stoic nonsense from the original trilogy. I loved all the parallels to The Godfather. It was just so good.

Also it just had a ton of cool moments that excited me. It had a massive fucking Wookiee bounty hunter. It had Mando and Grogu! Boba Fett rode a fucking Rancor into battle! Like holy shit. Id probably still put Mandalorian above Book of Boba Fett but it was close.

This show just struggles to have meaningful stakes. The dude has like 5 people on his team. And he supposedly represents the people of mos espa, who we never see him interact with outside of one tavern owner. And have no indication that they want or need him.

The show also has no self awareness of bobas complete and utter lack of any power or value to anyone. He's just some dude who has no followers or resources deciding he's in charge of shit. It's just not compelling at all.

Especially because tatooine is explicitly a worthless backwater nothing. Why does anyone even want to run spice there? It made sense for jabba as a place he ran shit with no oversight, but not as a place that had any inherent value of its own.

I think there was a good story buried somewhere in Boba but the execution just wasn't there. All of Boba's character development didn't really hit for me because he didn't have a character in the first place. They should have spent a little more time establishing him as a villain (since that's what we expect from OT) before "redeeming" him.

It doesn't feel rewarding when his character development is "actually he was never really a bad guy at all!" instead of just creating an actual story that takes him from bad to good. It's especially confusing when he's being pushed as a nice guy and he's trying to be a crime lord at the same time. Disney is too afraid to make their protagonists do bad things I guess.

I can usually turn my brain off when cool stuff happens in Star Wars and I did like some of those moments but overall I think this was pretty disappointing.

The Mando episodes were great though, obviously.

Gotta disagree with this point, I mean people have been outright telling Boba he has no power numerous times. If anything the show's been a bit heavy handed on this point.

The Book of Boba Fett was Rise of Skywalker bad but actually worse because it ended up taking up more time of my life.

And that's what the two Mandalorian episodes that were pretty solid.
