I think everyone just directed them towards Tumblr and they changed their minds. Also they claimed MasterCard specifically asked for this and MC responded saying they didn't.

The religious groups that were a huge force behind this happening in the first place have been backing off hard the last couple of days because they did NOT expect the huge amount of pushback they got. They thought they were going to be hailed as heroes and the negative attention has been staggering.

It was most of the same people that pushed to gut PH, and they figured this was going to go the exact same way clout wise. It...did not.

I assume because pornhub is a ton of free content and OF is a lot of people's livelihoods.

Wasn't the issue with pornhub that revenge porn etc was being uploaded and insufficiently policed? I would assume that's much less of an issue on OF.

Yes, my understanding is PH was legitimately letting shit fly that was not above the line. Also I BELIEVE (correct me if I'm wrong) the financial pipeline PH has for people working from their site is still active, which is obviously a much smaller crowd than OF to begin with. Plus, the general public is going to be much less willing to make a legitimate defence of PH.

They tried to make claims that OF was also providing illegal content but it didn't stick, and now it just looks like they had absolutely nothing to justify the self but "ewwwww titties" (which was ALSO the reason they went after PH and just found other excuses as backup) which...much harder to come out looking like the good guy there!

There a confusing line where nudity would be allowed but "sexually explicit content" would be banned.

So if a lady wanted to whip out her tits, that's fine. But if she then starts talking about jerking off a dude then that would be banned.

Vague stipulations like this are a smokescreen to give them leeway to remove whatever they want. It's a dance that's happened time and time again. Nobody was buying it.

Also I'm editing out all the full PHs because if they still took down that first OF topic we definitely can't say PH, lol.

Yeah, which is why their solution was to just axe everything from unverified accounts. In theory they didn't get rid of any type of content they were trying to offer in the first place.

The difference with PH, in regards to public reaction, was, I think:

A) There was laxer enforcement as to what could get posted on PH, so more illegal stuff was legitimately getting through. If there's some rash of illegal content on OF, it hasn't been publicized well enough to make anyone concerned.
B) The primary people making money off of PH (at least in the public's eyes) were the site owners/advertisers, not performers, so there were fewer, more unsympathetic content "creators" losing out.
C) PH has no monopoly on porn streaming sites, so there was less reaction to "losing content." Most videos are reposted on multiple other sites.
D) This is kind of a straw breaking the camel's back situation. Sometimes what makes people finally have enough, isn't the most egregious incident, but the most recent one in a long line of offenses.

This is the biggest one. No one feels sorry for some sleazy producer out in Vegas or California who was going to make less money but they absolutely felt sorry for the single mother of two who used a OF to make ends meet.

Under 20? That's the age when people just want to fap for free. I'd argue that OF appeals more to people aged 35+ who have reached the point where they realize they will never have a gf or wife, so by paying money to a female, they get some form of interaction and relationship in their mind, as opposed to a loveless fap from their earlier years.

@BlAcK_TuRtLe Come on man, you should know by now. You are not that young. When you have a girl(or a man I guess)you like you just follow their work. Is that hard to understand? Plus most people that offer content aren't that expensive. Around 20 dollars per month which is nothing for most Americans.

It has nothing to do with free porn. I mean you can pirate movies right? Yet so many people pay for online subscriptions or go to the theaters. They just want to support actors and companies.

They also don't want to get raided by the FBI and financially obliterated by high priced corporate lawyers, and there might be some desire to avoid malware. Also, some people just want to follow the path of least resistance.

Check the language there. "Suspends" their decision? So they can still go back on their word at a later date when they have better PR spin for it?

SWers need to move off of OnlyFans now and onto a more honest company that isn't going to fuck with their livelihoods.

And further, someone should create a site where Sex Workers can be paid/tipped in cryptocurrency, which cuts out banks altogether so we avoid this problem entirely.

Not in the slightest. Tons of creators are not going back to OF still. Their reputation is tarnished.

The "all publicity is good publicity" thing only really works if the product/company itself wasn't a household name. Just about everyone has heard of OF, even if in passing. They're not going to come back stronger from this.

I'd read that OF traffic is up as a result of this and a major search query was "what is OF?", so if nothing else this situation will have resulted in a number of new users who had not previously used OF.

And it sounds like wary content creators for the most part wont be leaving OF altogether. Instead many will simply be putting their content on multiple platforms, rather than only OF. If those alternate platforms fail to perform financially on the same level as OF then I'm doubtful a mass exodus will occur.

It's like how Mixer was just "the other platform" compared to twitch/youtube until it eventually got pulled. Those other platforms will need to prove themselves as a legitimate competitor.
