The bulk of Clark and Kara's (and Conor's, and Jon's) powers come from Kryptonia DNA reacting to the rays of Sol, a yellow star (no, it doesn't make sense. Just go with it). If they are cut off from that and exposed to the rays of a red star like Rao (Krypton's sun), those powers are either negated or severely curtailed.

If I remember correctly Led also blocks the radiation from the sun they need for their powers, and they can drain their powers by using heat vision etc.

So, in theory, you could shoot a ton of heat vision into space till you deplete your powers, then quickly get into a led room so they don't come back, get jiggy with it while mostly human, then head back out.

I'm not saying they need to or anything, it's perfectly fine being ignored, it just reminds me of how Star Trek hilariously did try to explain this same issue, by saying an ancient race of super advanced aliens who looked humanoid implanted their DNA throughout the galaxy in microorganisms so they would be immortalized after their civilization eventually collapsed, and that's who so many alien species also evolved to look human.
