I've certainly heard about the Souhern Ocean before.
I do find it a bit confusing though, just because it's not really clear where it ends and other oceans begin. While there are clear points where the ocean narrows to separate the Arctic, Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific from each other, there isn't anything remotely equivalent for the Southern... do they just define its border by latitude? But it's obviously useful for oceanographers to consider it a separate entity, and I'm not gonna argue with them. --- The RPG Duelling League: www.rpgdl.com An unparalleled source for RPG information and discussion ... I've certainly heard about the Souhern Ocean before. It's defined by latitude in general, though I think some organizations have more complex boundaries for it. issue is that the currents surrounding it change by season which would change the border year-by-year, so they just kind of approximate it --- Kneel... or you will be knelt ... I read about this a couple years ago, and was so confused to find out this comes from the early 90's. We certainly never learned that there were 5 oceans when I was school, and that was after this was initially established.

In first grade I learned there were 5 oceans, with the 5th being the Antarctic Ocean. But then I moved and the 5th ocean was never mentioned again. I assumed it was some sort of Mandela Effect.
But I guess this time my memory was correct. (I was in first grade in 1989, so whoever said this was from the early 90's was pretty much spot on.) --- Don't mess with a Bunny! ... Copied to Clipboard!
