Realistically, there never really was a hope for a better future. Bernie could have won and the fact remains that the entire system is fundamentally against any change happening and there is far too many wealthy powerful interests standing in the way of this country being anything but what it is. The squad of today will become the Pelosi and Schumer's of tomorrow. There's basically nothing to feel hopeful about for the overwhelming majority of people in this country. It's just continual decline on the menu for the rest of our lives.

Realistically though, if Bernie wins, does that suddenly make Sinema and Manchin vote progressive?

Heard they opened a new child detention center recently under Biden. One Trump protestor on the issue stated that they had to be consoled due to how upset they were but at least it is the "cadillac" of youth detention centers.

Bernie has the highest net favorability rating. He's also the most popular Senator. Some of Biden's current approval rating is because he's literally not Donald Trump. It would've translated to almost any person who became President. After 4 years of utter and complete incompetence, people are pretty happy with someone mildly competent.

I am grateful Biden is like, a human being compared to the last guy and on the BIden scale he has gone well but Bernie to me is like an amazing human being so I always will feel like he should have been the top guy.

I think Joe Biden is a genuinely good guy, unlike the vast majority of elected officials.

The problem is that he is also a genuinely stupid guy, who thinks bipartisanship is not just possible, but necessary AND intrinsically good, despite being Vice President for the guy who proved all of that wrong.

To address the (bad faith) argument that Bernies congress would be less progressive, and taking that to its logical conclusion, the implication that he would get less done, I would point to the powers of the office of the Presidency itself, which Joe seems unwilling to fully exercise, even to fix problems he explicitly said he would fix.

Of course they were offensive. They were intended to offend and they did offend. Is it possible they weren't as bad as Trump? Sure, that could be possible, but he's not exactly someone who should be a standard. He did lose the election, after all. In Trump admin 2.0, she would be a great fit.

i mean, in the sense that any insult is offensive to it's target, sure, but it's a pretty weak reason to tank a nomination. If you were talking to your friends about politics and they offered similar opinions on politicians you probably wouldn't even bat an eye (and certainly wouldn't tell prospective employers that they better avoid hiring them).
