Totally noob speaking wanting it to succeed BUT heres my evidence

People last week saw how quickly they could get it to spike 400% and get out

Then places like RH started putting restrictions on buying it with fresh deposits and then it crashed.

I see no reason why it cant just repeat that when these deposits clear

Robinhood is still the #1 app on the Apple Store despite everything. I know most of that isnt Doge related but hey, its there!

The Dec 2020 dollar and Jan 2021 dollar are roughly the same value. Bitcoin in the past month has fluctuated between $27k to $42k. That's actually a comparable variance to the dollar's value (you'd be looking at around $1-$1.50) has had since 2001. There's also the fact that the value basically jumps all over the map on a day to day basis. Consider Bitcoin in the past 5 years has grown 80x and the dollar hasn't even grown in value a quarter of that in TWO HUNDRED years and comparing their variance is comical.

(Also def look up how confirmations work after all coins are mined, it's really simple and clever... pretty sure it's in the original paper and wikipedia.)

A rich and long history of 12 years, the first 4 of those years it was barely even acknowledged as a thing that existed. Impressive. Will definitely survive forever with that lifespan.

"Why hasn't it" would boil down to this currency is basically infantile in the lifespan of currencies, particularly given it's based more in technology than currency, really. If the only argument is that it hasn't been replaced as the most widely used in its field in 12 years so it must be the best thats a really bad argument. Imagine claiming like Fortran will be the most used programming language forever because it was leading in its field for the 1960s.

I'm not saying Bitcoin has longevity because it's been at the top for 12 years. That's what you're saying, because you're missing its fundamental strengths. No other coin has come out that is superior to Bitcoin in those strengths, so it is naturally still at the top. When one does come out, it could certainly take over. Ethereum is the closest to that (hence the risk of flippening a while ago) but none of the hundreds of other altcoin attempts have come close. And now that ETH switched to PoS, it has given up its competition with BTC, which is good overall for both.

No, it's crashed massively vs BTC. BTC on the other hand has been rock steady at 1 BTC. Don't even try talking about real-world goods like housing, gas, food since the USD story is pathetic there too. This is why you conveniently left out of your "three things" that a good currency needs to hold its value.

Also another important thing that will help your pro-USD arguments: Don't talk about USD as a 200 year old currency. Modern USD was created in 1973, so it's only 4x as old as Bitcoin.

i have a friend who was one of the devs on that Switch game Killer Queen Black, he used to write game reviews for a Doge-themed magazine and they paid him in dogecoin. He sold over 70000 coins he got for "free" at 8cents and got over 5k

It was hyperbole. Yet if I told you that the rock solid 1 BTC worth 1/3 of its previous value in 6 months, could you say with confidence I'm wrong after seeing how it's value has wildly fluctuated in the past 5 years?

Because despite what foolmo will tell you 39000 dollars have not been worth 29000 dollars at any time in the past week. You get roughly the same goods and services with 39k as you did a week ago-- not the same with 1 BTC.

I mean, it worked.
We were getting off the gold standard anyway since the early 30s but it was in the 70s when we completely removed it. World War 1 proved it unusable as a global currency and then for WW2 everyone started getting off it completely. Eventually some 40 years later we completely cut it out.

I got out pre-surge unfortunately. I got in at $80 and sold at $150 because I was like "no way does it go any higher" and then it rocketed up to like double that like right after.
