Age of Empires 2 - Love it, and I actually tried a game on the first AoE but didn't even finish it, IIRC? Can't even remember where I tried it. Haven't tried AoE 3 either.

Growlanser Generations - Haven't tried any of the other Growlanser but really enjoyed the game. Haven't actually finished it though... and I think my PS2 disk broke.

The only thing I can think of right now is the South Park RPGs if they count as a series. I loved Stick of Truth and haven't played Fractured But Whole yet.

Resident Evil 7 - The 'clunkier' gameplay of the older entries have stopped me from playing them, although I'm hoping to change that this year.

chrono trigger - played like an hour of CC

resident evil 4 - not interested at all in any other version of it

999 - didn't love, but did like enough to want to play more. alas, my 3DS is lost now

life is strange - no real urge to play before the storm, and i haven't heard anything about LIS2

overcooked 2 - might go back to play overcooked 1 at some point

Blue Dragon

AOE2 - 1 is too old and I tried 3 but the "alert" sound is the most annoying thing ever so I stopped
Chrono Trigger - I never really understood, is Cross really a sequel? or it's just by name only and has just a few references here and there
Paper Mario - I played TTYD for like 2 chapters then stopped because I was sick and never played it after I recovered. Need to try again
Nier Automata - I am not sure Dragenard and the original Nier are on PC yet so I never tried!
Super Meat Boy - Yeah Forever just came out 2 weeks ago, but I will probably not play it

Chrono Cross isn't a direct sequel since it's a new cast but it definitely deals with the aftermath of the Chrono Trigger plot.

Trails in the Sky
After a complete playthrough I was going to start one with my BF before moving on to SC, but he didn't like it from the beginning and eventually quit. It's hard to pick out a long, detailed RPG as something I just play on my own time.

Was completely hooked when it launched. Basically devoted my life to it until I'd maxed out and beat the first end raid and all that. Never played it again and then Destiny 2 happened so I guess this counts

Hmm interesting this kind of can be true for me as well
I did play a little of RCT2 but that's nothing to how much I played the original RCT which was one of my favorite childhood game ever
2 is kind of better in every way (it also let you play maps from the original game) but it has one difference that made me drop it - not being able to charge guests for both park entry fee and ride fee
I made yes it makes sense, how greedy can I get?? but still, that change required me to change my playstyle that I was so used to from the original..and I didn't like it

EverQuest. 2 was pretty much dead on arrival and i never had any interest in the single player games.

Super Metroid if you count Prime as a separate series

and Starcraft comes close, played maybe 3 hours of Starcraft 2
