I'm not agaisnt masks. But I'm not going to wear a mask to go for a run by myself. That's asanine

According to like 80% of folks in this thread that makes you selfish and ignorant, even though it makes perfect sense not to wear a mask at all outside and just socially distance yourself from folks.

I just saw a post on fb that was talking about how restaurants are forcing people to wear masks until they get seated, then they can take the masks off... According to these folks that is an extremely wise and intelligent thing to do and they will chastise you if you don't agree with them by calling you the P word because they are foolish enough to conform to that kind of ridiculous behavior.

Just for the record, I agree with wearing masks indoors, but where do we draw the line? Do I have to wear a mask outside when the nearest person is a block away on average? Am I really a selfish douche for only wanting to play this game up to a certain point? Should I wear masks in my own house too? While showering? Should I leave it on when I go to sleep? It's fine the way it is right now.

Wearing a mask for 30 seconds just to take it off after you sit down while you are surrounded by strangers is really stupid.

No it isn't. You're surrounded by people, so those 30 seconds could help save someone's life.

It most certainly is not because by the time youre seated you are much less likely to be exposed to the mucus droplets of said strangers if youre properly spaced

That's nice, but it doesn't matter. The federal government can't enforce such mandates.

Would be nice if people wore masks outdoors in crowded places. I've seen huge crowds of people at beaches and parks with maybe 10% of people wearing masks.

5 Days ago, in New Jersey
https://www.nj.com/coronavirus/2020/08/packed-mask-free-lines-outside-jersey-shore-bars-are-the-scary-coronavirus-party-no-one-needs.html

But Murphy expressed concerns that efforts to slow the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19 are threatened by the big crowds of maskless young people seen waiting to get into Jersey Shore bars over the weekend. "This virus could have easily spread, just standing in line," he said.
"Standing around maskless outside a bar is just as big a knucklehead move as standing around maskless inside one," Murphy said. He warned that a failure to comply would force action.
"If we have to shut places down to protect public health we will," he said.
Murphy also addressed a "pop-up" pool party that drew more than 300 to a Howell home on Sunday. Law enforcement officers from eight agencies joined in the effort to disperse the partygoers, but the party was just another in a string of such parties, including one that drew more than 700 people in Jackson and one in Brick that drew more than 400.

Unless you're doing it through an incredibly crowded area, it accomplishes nothing (other than making you feel better and that you think you're saving lives doing this) and makes your run more uncomfortable.

I think you really need to do some research on this. The experts are saying that the virus spread outdoors when you're not in a crowd is negligible. Wearing a mask when you're running outside, outside and can easily go around people to avoid them is not going to contribute to the virus spread going down at all. It's just going to restrict your breathing and you'll have a sopping wet mask on for a period of time (which they say not to do by the way).

Really doesn't feel necessary to do if you're not outside in a crowded area and are actually making any sort of attempt to respect social distancing.

Such mandates are pointless anyway if they can't be enforced. Where I am masks are supposed to be mandatory in all public buildings, but I still see tons of people who don't bother, and nothing ever happens to them.

K. Do what you want man. I play sports hard included tennis and running and can't imagine wearing a mask that's fucking drenched on my face for that period of time while accomplishing fuck all while I'm at it.

Like I said, I live in a place where we've absolutely killed covid. Cases dropping like flies, empty hospitals, things reopen. It was never a norm here to wear masks outdoors and I haven't seen anyone wearing one outdoors while exercising.

Masks do make it harder for me to breathe, especially in hot conditions.

It's not going to make me not wear them in public indoor spaces or anything (believe it or not, I actually do want to make a reasonable effort to not kill anyone), but I'm also not exactly going to admit "oh ok, I guess it doesn't impact my breathing after all" just because there's been online videos of people who don't encounter the same issue. People are, surprisingly, different. I'm pretty sure I know how my own breathing is affected better than some strangers on the internet do.

I would literally bet tens of thousands on Trump winning re-election at this point. Yeah, he's a cringy president that tweets a bunch of dumb shit, but Biden/Harris are much, MUCH weaker than Hillary as opponents.

It's almost unbelievable that they found a candidate that is even worse at interviewing/debating than Trump, but they did.
