What he sells is determined by the season. Spring is cats, summer penguins, autumn dogs, winter capybara. Keep in mind you can get more than one pet but you can't buy another until the previous one has 8+ hearts.

Even worse is that it counted as a holiday, so all the stores were closed. That right there is she shitty game balance. You can't buy summer crops til Day 2 of Summer -_-

Nah, in this game you have to wait until the season itself to buy the seeds. At the general store, anyway. Huang sells them all the time.

A big festival gripe in this game are Valentine's Day/White Day. Why exactly does the game expect me to stay in my front yard literally all day long so I can accept the gifts from my buds? Why not have them go around town as normal and give me the gifts when I talk to them? Eesh.

Almost done with Spring year 1, got a bunch of chickens, upgrade my hammer once and watering can twice, bought a cow, upgraded my bag and need to upgrade my dang axe so I can farm wood more to upgrade my house.

Game seems a lot easier than I remember (mainly upgrading gear, I always thought you needed to wait till Winter for the mines but that might have been 64) but then again it's been 20+ years of me Harvest Moon'ing so I ain't complaining. I wish the characters emoted expressions a bit better but I don't mind the graphics at all. They are pretty adorable.

I don't know what "intentional" means in terms of something like this. especially when it seems more thought were put into their designs in this game in regards to the characters' occupations. It looks really nice and cute, to boot.

Yeah most are 20k. The standard dog is 10k, and the penguins and capybaras are 30k.

Are there any repercussions for giving more than one person the preserved flowers? I'm still torn between a few of the guys. In Stardew Valley, if you're dating every candidate of one gender, they'll all get super pissed off at you, so I'm scared lol

With the way crop yields work, one day isn't going to make much of a difference. You're going to have two days of overlap where you aren't going to be able to produce anything. Huang sells pineapple seeds year round, so you can buy those at the end of spring and plant them the first day of summer. It's always a good idea to purchase an abundance of seeds at the end of the season so you can have them for the first day of the season next year.

You must live a really sheltered life if you don't understand how him having an intense dislike of the one black guy in the game can come off as racist. You seem to be taking this far more seriously than I meant it though, so I reiterate: it's just a game. Rick isn't a real person who is going to be offended by me saying that his disdain comes off as racially motivated. I'm not going to sit here and have a discussion about the biases (conscious and unconscious) that we all hold/how media reflects that. I'm going to talk about the video game and I suggest you do the same.

Any way, three way tie between Gray, Kai, and Cliff for myself. The idea of breaking up Kai and Popuri tears at my heart (I had a similar issue with Magical Melody where I felt like an absolute monster for marrying Dan and leaving Eve all by herself lol). Gray is adorable (and, ngl, I have this weird repulsion to the "quiet girl with long hair and glasses trope" so I have this almost instinctual desire to keep him away from Marie) but so is Cliff. I could split my save file if nothing else; I'm stupidly rich from selling Van's Favorite to Huang, so it's not like I'd be left with no money or clue what to do upon my return.

It isn't racism lol. It isn't because he's the one guy that's black, it's because he's the one guy that Popuri is into and he's overprotective of her. Especially when Kai only visits in the summer and Rick would probably worry about him treating her casually or, worse, "taking" her away from town.

It can come off as racist. Since we don't have any games where Rick is Popuri's brother but Popuri's love interest is someone other than Kai, we can't really make that judgment definitively as to whether or not Rick would be that overbearing with any guy. Again, I don't want to derail this topic with a heavy discussion. I think that a guy whose starter dialogue is "I like pretty much everyone in town except for Kai. I can't stand that no-good bum." comes off a bit racist though. Especially given that Kai is a good person from the moment you meet him, runs a business, and is generally liked by everyone else in town.

Maybe Rick gets better as you get to know him. He always comes off as an overbearing stick in the mud to me, so I've never had any interest in befriending him outside of talking to him everyday (as I do with all the townsfolk).

All I know is that people used to love marrying Karen to save her from Rick, or they would marry Popuri to keep her in town all year round. Now? Rick and Karen are perfect for each other - a bitter irony considering that they took out rival marriages. I still don't understand why they removed them. Having a bunch of young people in the same town with the fate of "marry the one new guy or become a spinster for life" is pretty off putting. Their perpetual existence shouldn't rely on your whims.
