What's so good about Trio of Towns?

As its name suggests, it contains three fully fleshed out villages, each one with its own culture. There's a western town, a Japanese town, and a tropical town. There's a tooooon of stuff to do, and the game has a lot of customization in it.

I played Friends of Mineral Town last night a bit. And uh, wow this game feels cheap lol. Like I know the Bokujou Monogatari games have never been AAA or a ton of polish or anything, but this one espeeecially feels super janky, to the point it almost feels unfinished :|

For those playing the EU version... It like, it's okay right? Lol. The game doesn't just break or anything does it?

So do you have 3 farms and 3 houses then? Is it easy to get around?

Nah you have one farm. I don't remember any problems with getting around. I think it had an elephant taxi system for quick travel.

I think the only downside was the waifus were just okay. There wasn't a ton of them, despite having 3 towns. The ones that there were though, were pretty good. I married a cool laid back sleepy tropical chick with purple hair.

It does though. The music cuts off really abruptly in a lot of scenes. Characters have veeery few animations. For that matter, seeing NPCs walking at blinding speed then just instantly disappear mid-cycle when they get to a door, is lolzy.

A lot of the character's dialogue trees seem busted or like they never fleshed them out. Like, half the villagers, when you talk to them, just say "Hello." and that's it.

I'm not knocking the game, just concerned lol. I've played almost all the BM games, and i know none feel like AAA games level of polish. But this me, more than others, feels kinda broken from my initial impressions.

If the graphics for this game look cheap, that's a ymmv thing I suppose, but it feels janky? I can't wrap my head around that one lol. It feels like a complete game to me.

For Trio of Towns, it's a great blend for me of having great NPCs with fun towns and the amount of customization and content you can go through. The dialogue actually feels more varied for once, leading to the world feeling more alive (which even extends to the family you leave behind feeling like actual people, too).

Well yeah, like I said, I'm used to the usual levels of simplicity that comes with Bokujou Monogatari. I don't mind the visuals.

As far as jank, like I said. I feel like dialogue trees are incomplete. I don't remember any recent entries that had so many characters that just say "Hello" or "What do you want?" with absolutely no variety. Maybe I got spoiled by ToT.

Like, I know Marvelous is small but everything about the game makes it feel like it was made by a team of 3 people lol.

For the seed question, you have to ship 100 of each crop (not including the ones sold by Huang) before that season's secret seeds are unlocked.

As for money cheese, there are two main ways:

Derby - Happens in the Spring and Autumn. Save scum the horse races while pumping all your money bets to the horse with the best medal outcome. The 2nd and 3rd races are rng so just reload until you get the payout. Then use the medals to buy a crap ton of brooches or dresses (latter is unlocked after you get the power berry and jewel) and sell them to Huang (4 affection needed) for a massive profit. Best done after you have a medium bag at least.

Van's Favorite - For every exactly ten items you buy from a shop (buying in stacks still only counts as one, you have to close and reopen the shop menu for it to count), you get Van's Favorite in the mail the next day. You can sell it to Huang for 50k.

oh yeah I know what you mean. In that sense I've been spoiled by Trio of Towns as well (and Rune Factory 4 lol). It's not incomplete, but it's intentional and does get repetitive. A lot of older BM games are like this and Trio/Towns was a huge step up in that regard. For better and for worse, SoS Mineral Town is a very faithful remake for the bulk of it and that includes the dialogue. It's part of what I meant last night when I said that while I love playing this game, at the same time it's also just giving me an itch to go back to Trio.

I must vow not to abuse horse races AGAIN. This time I'll make an HONEST living lol.

I'm mostly glad it sounds like a faithful remake though. It would have been nice for it to be expanded a bit more though. The whole art style isn't exactly an objective upgrade, so it would have been nice to have more of its own identity game play wise. Or are there new features i just didn't hear about?

-new livestock like alpaca and rabbits as well as different cows that produced flavored milk
-you can ride your horse around town
-there's an elevator in the mines that you can unlock

Pretty cool. And there's no new crops? Can we walk in crop squares? <_<

Oh yeah, you can walk on crops now, so everything can be 3x3. And you can just ring a bell to let all your animals outside at once, and at nighttime they automatically go back inside and it still counts as feeding as long as there's grass on the field.

As far as I can tell, no new crops but there's a 5-star quality to crops now, but I have no clue how to get higher ratings >_>

can you still access the teleportation thing in the mines and save after every floor?

They added Adzuki Beans and Chili peppers in the fall but that's it, iirc. To get higher ratings, Gotts offers a field upgrade at the start of every year. I miss doing it the fertilizer and seed maker way, it made me feel more proud of my 5* crops :(

And yeah you can still have the teleport thing and save scum

I've also heard that rival marriage is no longer in the game. It makes sense now that you can romance all the bachelor/ettes.

A lot of places from the past few months from the Japan release. They kept the first two rival heart events but got rid of everything else. Japanese players reallllly don't like rival marriages.

the first couple events are still included, but you cant get to a point where the rivals actually end up together. Kai and popuri will never actually end up getting married although there are some of the events still there.

It takes forever for the rivals to marry the girls, so it's not like it's a strict time limit. Why wouldn't they want that? smh
