But in all seriousness, the Alinity stuff is actually appalling that she never gets punished for. Throwing cats, her dog licking and sniffing her crotch, showing porn on stream. Showing her bare breast on stream only got her a 2 day suspension, after she supposedly had to ask them for it.

Meanwhile there are art streams that get completely taken down for almost provocative pictures.

And the fact that DarkSydePhil can break the terms of service on the daily and never get in trouble is wild too. In fact, his staff contact (some dude who got busted for looking for girls' phone numbers and calling them and creeping on them days ago among other things) told him that to avoid getting in trouble for screaming at his fans and calling them all manner of ban-worthy names, that all he has to do is delete his archives.

Twitch is a busted ass system that seems like the rules are enforced only for those who don't make them boat loads of money.

And if you don't believe any of that, I implore you all to check the stuff.

The leading theory is that he is helping start up a new streaming service called Brime. He may legally have breached his contract with twitch in doing so and they may have a legal fight upcoming over it.

Oh yeah their system is absolutely terrible, no doubt about it. Their ToS is not clearly defined, which means that their bans are incredibly inconsistent.

I just don't think as a whole that "the men are treated more poorly than the women" holds weight. r/livestreamfail is toxic as fuck, but every day there you see a couple female streamers who don't understand Twitch isn't a cam site get banned because of nudity, it's not like a blind eye is being turned, it just seems like the upper echelon is more "biased towards men" because the men significantly outweigh the women at that level.

I have no excuse for Alinity, though, I'm just as baffled and annoyed as the next person when it comes to her ban evasion. I'm just a little tired of the "but what about Alinity" excuse. I feel like people need to move on. I've seen too many people on Twitter say, "wow Doc did nothing but Alinity is free", and yeah these are idiots, but it's crazy that it always comes back to that and she lives rent free in these people's heads.

The one thing I'll say about Alinity is this: after the cat incident, the local animal services paid her a visit and found nothing wrong. At this point, what can you do? They saw the clip and went to her house, are we as the viewer more knowledgeable than the professionals, or should we just get on with our lives?

It is real and the entire Complaint is hilarious.

Since things are being kept hush, it's probably all tied up in criminal legality.

Considering the size of his contract, if he breached it to start a new streaming service we could be talking about eight/nine figure civil liability, which would also be a reason to keep hush hush.

Alinity is in the top 0.1% because she has more than 100 viewers, but she isn't exactly "popular" if our definition is "one of the biggest people on Twitch". There are probably a triple digit amount of streamers, both men and women, that are "more popular" than her that are not held to the same standard , so I don't think that's the exact reasoning.

I don't think money has anything to do with it. A top 10 streamer in terms of subscribers was banned for a day or so a couple weeks ago because he accidently clicked a link of gorillas having sex. There are many similar cases like this across the board at the top. If he was so popular why did that happen?

It's just inconsistent moderation across the board, regardless of view count or money brought in to the company.

IIRC he was just kinda streaming in a restroom with no particular malicious intent but also IIRC that's not particularly legal anyway

IIRC he was IRL streaming during Twitchcon and left his stream running whilst he visited the mens room instead of temporarily going offline or cutting away to a BRB screen or whatever.

it was being broadcast on his channel and he hired the cameraman (or asked his friend) to film him during the convention. if you ask a moron to represent you professionally and he does dumb shit in your name, it's still on you. plus he could have easily said "hey man, don't film in the bathroom".

The bathroom thing is overblown in my opinion because it seems obvious they just weren't thinking about it. Like he didn't intentionally take a camera into the bathroom to be edgy, his cameraman was just stupid and followed him in. I guess you could be mad at him for being stupid or not hiring a good enough cameraman but to put it on the same level as "cheated on his wife" just seems like you're trying to find reasons to dislike him.

There are already plenty of reasons to dislike him, you don't need to pretend like you're mad about him accidentally filming in a bathroom to make more!
