The report is from politico from an ex adviser. I doubt it's truth. That said, I said he should do this like 6 months ago.

if the absentee ballots for each county were to follow the same % splits as what's currently being reported already, and everyone in the state voted, Booker would win by half a million votes

obviously there are lots of problems there because many counties have reported 0 so far, among other obvious factors like low sample size in general

basing on population instead of registered voters, assuming mail in would be the same as in person, etc.

I hate seeing polls like that, because there are 19% undecided, and if 2016 taught us anything, it's that if you can't pick a side between the two parties, what you really mean is you're aware of what kind of horrific scumbags the modern GOP are, but you can't support the Democrats because you disagree with their policies. And when the time comes, racism/sexism/homophobia/damage to the economy are preferable to giving the Dems a win for those undecideds.

I don't know good sources for polls like that. On 538 the most recent one I see is 10 days old and shows Booker doing 5 points better than McGrath but still getting creamed. I don't even know what the source for the poll in the post I shared is.

Every single poll I have seen outside of that has McConnell up double digits against any democratic opponent. So, I doubt that.

I saw that "Trump's polling is so bad he's considering dropping out!" thing yesterday but from some Fox Business guy who had a history of throwing out ridiculous rumors that had no basis in reality so I just rolled my eyes.

I don't believe there's any merit to it. Trump's narcissism and ego won't allow him to admit "defeat" by running away. In his constant search for adoration and approval even he has to know he can't spin leaving now as "mission accomplished." There's also the fact that his being the president is literally the only thing between him and legal jeopardy. Or that his inner circle is reportedly just feeding his ego by telling him the polls are fake and actually things are still fine.

The GOP as a whole also can't be for it because Trump dropping out now would be a disaster electorally. How many Republicans would just stay home and not vote? Even if a nominee Pence brought back some of the Lincoln Project folks that's going to be dwarfed by disaffected Trump cultists who would just sit the thing out or write him in anyway. GOP can only go down with the ship and pray they can hold the Senate and get ready to obstruct all day long like they did with Obama and wait for the pendulum to swing back.

Also the Russian bounty story continues to get worse. Sources are stating it was in the Presidential Daily Briefing and giving it right down to the day - February 27. Meanwhile Bolton is apparently a source saying he briefed Trump back in early 2019.

Trump's Intelligence appointments have already pivoted from "FAKE NEWS! This never happened!" to "LEAKS ARE A CRIME AND PUT OUR TROOPS IN DANGER!"

I'm shamefully ignorant regarding Trump's criminal activity, but even surface level knowledge of human behavior tells me there's a good chance he'll see the inside of a jail cell... because once he loses his power, absolutely no one will come to his defense in the event he's charged with anything.

Imagine if a person of Trump's character and temperament was your boss. If that boss was stripped of any of their authority, would you have any fucken desire to stick your neck out for them? You'd let them rot.

In a just world, sure.

But people with money hardly ever go to jail before you even put aside the fact that I imagine a lot of people will be squeamish at what might appear to be a political prosecution. (Regardless of the facts a good 40% of the country will be primed to decry it as such.)

Agreed, that's one saving grace for him. Some people WILL want to avoid what they deem to be a political circus at any cost. But my counterpoint to that is that we've never had a President so universally loathed. There are Republicans in Congress masking secret boners over the thought of Trump of going to jail. Apart from fringe weirdos like Matt Gaetz, you'll have a hell of a time convincing me that anyone in Washington who deals with Donald Trump actually likes him (apart from his family).

I think that, even if the entire party hates him, the GOP is kinda stuck with Trump at this point. They've spent four years covering his ass and making excuses for his incompetence and criminal activity, and if they tried to make an about-face, there are two negative outcomes. For the opposition, they get to run on "these fuckers KNEW what this criminal was doing LONG before he left office, and they allowed it to happen anyway because the criminal helped them out". For the diehards, without even taking into account the fact that turning on Trump would be viewed as a betrayal...the GOP admitting they were wrong would be viewed as a sign of weakness, and thus unworthy of respect or support. They've kinda GOTTA double down on "he did nothing wrong" at this point, confident in the knowledge that our current political system will never allow probably punishment for their actions.

Heard one report that Jefferson got 185,000 mail-in ballots. For those following along from home that would mean about 95% of Louisville votes were mail-in, if numbers are accurate

Seen a couple different news anchors mention McGrath's slim lead and point out that 81% of precincts are reporting but nobody seems to want to go so far as to say "worth noting Booker will likely get 80% of those 185,000 jefferson county votes" haha But I suppose I get it.

They had that swine flu outbreak back in january or february I think. They culled like 500,000 pigs or something if I remember correctly. I have zero idea why they are basically bringing that up now tbqh. I think it's even going off a 7 year research analysis also.
