the vocal voice guy at :31 in WABR(EV) is notably more tolerable for me than the other vocals in the song. who knows why. There's some pretty fun, almost-crazy-ish stuff going on in the background music, but it's dampened for me because of the Vocals Factor. Meanwhile Taliyah also has vocals, even if just "aaaaaaaa" I don't want to hear her. She may be less focused on than the vocals of We Are Burning Rangers but I'm also less into what the song itself has to offer. Would rather listen to WABR.

TnT7 is a fun tune without vocals! I'm like, half-familiar with the tune this song was based from but not enough to really give meaningful comparisons. This does a good job with it I wish I were better at pointing out everything that I liked because there is quite a lot of good in this song with all the different fun rhythms and sections! Infant Queen Bee has a strange atmosphere to it, and I like strange! But beating TnT7 for me is a tall order that I don't think this dire track completely makes it. It's still certainly alright for what it does it's just up against a pretty top tier song.

toc match is good & very close. ultimately what I think makes up my mind is I kind of prefer the notes tune melody all around in asgore than in revenger. Low points in Revenger feel lower than Asgore to me.

a closer match than i expected, as I realised I only really like a portion of both songs

taiko medley is neat but still something i feel relatively indifferent on, as it's good but doesn't stand out enough relative to other medleys in general. -45's style is one of the most anti-(people I'd probably like to associate with more in compatibility) and even broadly anti-(other aspects of my own taste) but I still enjoy it quite a bit so oops

i may have slammed it last round but i also secretly still like every ut battle theme a lot more than people probably realise, even if asgore's not really my favourite. of course it's still not getting my vote but hey. wish system0 could've been here for the -45 double, even if (if you recall my ranking last round) i said i like infant queen bee more than it

BFM is just CRAZY in its second half, I'm not sure what to say besides WHOAMG chords that evoke cool feelings, the electric guitar sluggish bends are fun, and stuff. Music balances light-hearted and funky in a way that I like. Final chord is SO COOL with that upward gliss.

We Are Burning Rangers (English Version) vs Taliyah, the Stoneweaver: THEY WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN. Burning Rangers slaps end of story the vocals are perfect the vibe is funky it really doesn't get much better than this. Taliyah is just surfing on some stones in this video thats very cool. The song itself isn't bad either. It can't compare to Burning Rangers at all, but its still pretty good.

Burning Force Melody vs Infant Queen Bee: Burning Force Melody is very cool I love whatever the lead instrument is. I wish I had more to say about this track but its honestly just a nice song. Infant Queen Bee is some of the Umineko stuff I really like. Its just oozing dread out of it which is a very cool vibe. I like both songs in this match up but the vibe on Infant Queen Bee just overpowers Burning Forces. Sadly I'll have to put the fire out on this match up.

ASGORE vs Revenger: WOAH ITS ASGORE AGAIN. ITS COOL. ITS ALSO GOING UP AGAINST REVENGER. OH NO. Revenger is an absolute banger I love it a lot. Its a very fun track that is super cool. Its also the track that got me into vgmc in the first place so thats also nice. ASGORE really can't compete with Revenger but they are still very good tracks. Not much else to say about this match up.

Match 1: We Are Burning Rangers is a super cheesy, lovable '90s jam. Taliyah sounds like Fiona's song from the movie Shrek.

Match 2: Wow, I keep forgetting that we have two Burning songs in this year's contest. This is actually very good, but I love Infant Queen Bee and it's one of my favorite tracks from Umineko.

ToC: ASGORE isn't really one of the handful of Undertale tracks that have seriously impressed me. Revenger is pretty good, but I still don't see its whole appeal and how it got as far as it did.

We Are Burning Rangers (English Version) is my 153rd favorite in the contest! this song is BORING to me because it is too fun. I like the rhodes epiano keyboard chords and 90sness for sure. nice and funky, i think if it felt less tonally "neutral" to me, less quick to return to its home chords, i'd be more enthused by this, but most of what it has going for it is the energy it exudes and that there's a rap well i like rap more than I used to but i prefer edgy rap over fun rap. THE BRASS section is really good in this song though, i would have so much fun playing this song in a real life with a band. but if i'm listening to it it's hard for me to really be energized for some reason even though it's such an energetic song. on paper i'd expect to like this, i like fusiony/funky things, so i'm not sure why it can't quite click. probably just because it is too fun and i am too edgy to emotionally connect with positivity as an exuded emotion in a song or something. love the epiano solo around 4:20 though~!

Taliyah, the Stoneweaver is my 44th favorite in the contest! this is the LEAST boring song I have ever heard. like it's a bombardment of my favorite types of chord changes and individual harmonies it feels simultaneously chill and EPIC at the SAAME TIME simultaneously. the "DRIP (drop)" at 1:04 is an EXPLOSION OIF MY EYES i can't HANDLE it it changes between minor/major/dorian like every few chords and makes a BIG POINT about how it is changing what notes are flat/natural/sharp like JUICE and the funny aaaaaaa girl singing is WEAVING together every startling chord change like a STONEWEAVER. YEAH! i think i might've been bored by this in 2009 when i only listened to music that i think is boring now and dismissed everything as soon as it had a violin and girl singing in it. i'm an actively huge fan of the instrumentation in this one. The live-sounding hand percussion is wonderful it sounds like you can control rocks with abstract rock control powers and are surfing on a rock through a cool rocky environment. This track feels so full of life, every instrument is expressive and i adore this so so so much. I love this song!!!!!!!!

Burning Force Medley is my 12th favorite in the contest! 7/4 time! the 7/4 part's ironically probably my least favorite part of the song, not because I don't like it, but because I think every other part is even more amazing! The Genesis (and arcade) version of Bay Yard (Daytime) (1st Day) from Burning Force (the part from the start until :57 in this medley) is definitely one of the single pieces of music I listened to the highest number of times. The day I found it (during the period where I was listening to every Sega Genesis ost in alphabetical order), I listened to it on loop nonstop, for multiple days. I listened to nothing except that 50 second loop for days! for the majority of waking hours of those days! and even after that period ended i loved it so much it still continued to be one of the tracks I most regularly went back to for years. I did not know about this remix at the time. I think this track almost perfectly embodies what my taste in music was from ~2009-2011, like eerily perfectly, it checks like every box at once: Vaguely 80s?, 70s prog rock organ?, odd time?, "epic (destiny)" soaring minor/dorian melody?, "FM SYNTH IS THE BEST" lead patch?, generally complex and playful live instruments/soloistic/"proggy things" sounds like motoi sakuraba or "emerson lake and palmer" or something yeah. it's about the most '09-'11 mycro (_Jolteon) song you can even get and I did not know it existed until less than a year ago despite music from Burning Force being among my favorites back then and this remix existing back then! What a shame! It'd have totally been like, my literal favorite song at that period probably. Anyway now I'm more interested in the part :57 and later funnily enough (i likely would've been then too, but not quite as majority my focus as it is now). the part at :57 pretty immediately spams you with transposing chord cluster stabs which i've expressed plenty is one of my favorite compositional DEVICES and the parts with that are my favorite bits here. The part like 1:22 - 1:26 is my other favorite part, the drums descend into this polymetric 3+3 6/8 feel beneath the 4/4, and polymeter is one of my other favorite compositional DEVICES. So many cool echoy trippy background things that fill the space here really nicely! : D !!!!!!!!!!!!!! the Taiko Drum in this video looks so happy!!!!!!!!! Just like how happy I am listening to this song!!!!!!!!! Jolt(?!) jolt!

Infant Queen Bee is my 168th favorite in the contest! i've said this before. i never know how the fuck to react to -45's music. on paper if you described it, i would assume i hate it (it basically falls into the same category as Danny Baranowsky, cheesy halloween edm with really predictable chord movement and really grating amateur production). but I feel like there's a few things that make me actually fond of it...but they're like...all things i think are "bad", but they're like "interesting bad" (mostly the fact that the music all sounds like it's recorded inside of a sewer pipe and just how immediately recognizable the composer is from the composition tropes they default to) so then i wind up being a fan. Also I think I never find -45's music "cheesy", it's straightforward and traditional, but it's not like condescendingly layed out to you, maybe even the awkward sound design choices adds to clouding elements i might scoff at normally. Also it's just dark, and I like dark. basically -45 is a huge exception to the rule of "i hate music that does these things", i never outright love it, and it's very mood-dependent, but I appreciate that exists. I am glad that music that sounds like [a bunch of evil ghosts playing fake edgy classical music on toy keyboards inside of a excessively echoy metallic room in a castle dungeon] exists. i think as much as i tend to react with aversion to what i perceive as amateur audio production or straightforward composition, i firmly do not believe anything is actually objectively 'bad' and things like this are an example of why I hold that opinion. You could only get music that sounds exactly like this from -45 and no one else, and that makes it a valuable contribution to the world regardless of how naive i might find it to be, maybe even specifically /because/ of how naive i find it to be. I feel like it's the kinda thing that makes me frustrated with things that put too much emphasis on "right" and "correct" when learning things like composition or production, because if -45 adhered to more traditional standards, i would probably not like their music as much.

ASGORE is my 31st favorite ToC Entrant! and I already talked about it in r1

Revenger is my 16th favorite ToC Entrant! I always get some mysterious nonexistent rhythm game track in my head and do not know what it is. The answer: a mashup of Crystar - Revenger and Sigma Harmonics - Hope Given "Dance of the Dog's Howl" (neither are actually rhythm game songs as much as i would like to believe they ar.e..). This has lots of cool sounds, and sticks with me a lot. I like the "less melodic parts" because they sound like "masashi hamauzu" and also I like how this has a violin in it at the same time as constant 16ths synth crazy stuff because it sounds like "masashi hamauzu" and i like the part with lots of brass at 2:28 because it sounds like final fantasy 13-3 (masashi hamauzu). very busy and timbrally varied, just what i like~!

pretty neutral day today, don't really have anything to say about burning rangers NOR taliyah NOR burning force medley cause they all are in styles that require specific things to make me actually attracted to them and they don't do those things so i'm kind kinda hmmmm on all of them lol. not that they're bad or I hate them, just they don't do a single thing for me!! and then there's Infant Queen Bee which is A LOT OF THINGS that i love lol -45 trance is very consistently very fun for me to listen to and i love all of these sounds THAT SLAP CLAP IS SO GOOD this song is like going through a computerized tunnel and that makes me a very happy listener. i had not listened to this before nominations but with time i think my opinion on this song is going to go up and i'll look back at "only 46th place" and be like wtf lol. clear preference in where my priorities for this four pack lies

hello Revenger!! I actually think I like this significantly less than last year, but it's still literally a 7.5 (and in 41st of 56 being a 7.5 jesus christ lmao) cause it is very RHYTHM GAME-ISH NOISE HAPPENING this style is like something Sakuzyo consistently nails and it's pretty much his own style like I don't think many people, if any, could pull off the kind of music with the quality that he does. Just Revenger is now not my favorite of what he's done when just a year ago it was! Honestly, I don't think Revenger at the level I liked it last year would still be enough to have me vote it over ASGORE. ASGORE is just too good lol IMAGINE IF BERGENTRUCKUNG WAS INCLUDED it would be like top 10 in toc. bergentruckung by itself is actually top 10 in toc. i can't believe i love a 15 second song as much as i do. anyway, yeah easy match but i love both these songs lol

MATCH 1

We Are Burning Rangers is a neat funk rock kind of song. Reminds me of an Earth, Wind, and Fire song. Not much to say about this. It's a nice song and I like the style of it. It has this superhero TV show intro cheesiness to it, but it's a good kind of cheesiness that I can appreciate.

Taliyah, the Stoneweaver is a very cool song! Amazing how I never knew how many great songs were used as login themes for this game. Definitely don't recall one being used when I had briefly played it. Nice soft strings and vocals and the climax of the song is really cool. It has that slight world feel to it like with the PMD song from the other day. That chord change at 1:13's really neat as well. I like We Are Burning Rangers, but Taliyah's more my kind of song.

MATCH 2

I like this upbeat feel to Burning Force Medley! Predictably, though, I only dislike the dissonant chords starting at 0:57. That said, I remember that part of the song carrying on for much longer than it actually does, so this song ends up being better than I remember since it's not a major part of the song like I thought it was. The other parts of this song feel more aligned with my tastes in prog rock. Aside from the one thing I mentioned not liking, it's a cool song!

Infant Queen Bee is one of many great songs from -45! I can't say I'm as into his style of trance music as I am in his other tracks like Yomitsu and system0 where blaring organs and harpsichords are more at the forefront of the song (plus I prefer zts' Umineko trance anyway). That said, though, this song is still great and does include those aforementioned traits of -45's music that I really enjoy. Wish I had more to say about this song, especially since I feel like I'm not giving enough credit to it, but it's a very solid song from a composer whose work I tend to really love. Definitely my favorite song up today.

MATCH 3

Revenger's a good song, but my thoughts on it are still pretty similar to how I initially felt last year about it. The main position I have being that its peaks are very good, but has too many lulls in the song where it's noticeably less good to me. The more climactic violin melodies are great, but yeah, like I said, I'm not as into the more calmer parts of the song. ASGORE, on the other hand, is more consistently good, so I have to go for that. Somewhat close match, though.
