Hell yeah, I'd freaking play MMO's with them on it, I'd introduce them to the best sites, and i'd teach em to type before they went to elementary school.

I'd have to put a password on NoScript since I wouldn't want my kid going online and downloading a bunch of viruses and adware... but other than that, sure they can use the internet as much as they like.

And perhaps every day I'd ask them about what they viewed today. Engagement is important.

Of course I would. The Internet is great for education and simple leisure things. My Niece and Nephew already use it and they are 7 and 10. Mostly my 10 year old Nephew playing Fortnight with his friends but yeah. I see no problem with it providing parental controls and general common sense is used.

Yes, you can't protect them from the way of the world forever. It's part of being responsible, but just like with much else. It wouldn't be fair to keep them from enhancing their lives with it.

It should be more up to them, if they really wish to get much use out of it.

Would depend on the age, The internet isn't for kids because as we all have from time to time, you can stumble upon or be redirected to some sites that aren't kosher.

Social media is the problem with the internet. in particular things like Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, etc.

they are distractions and have been proven to be bad in so many ways, from causing depression to spreading fake news

Using it for other purposes like research can be fine

I'll definitely invest in some wacky powerful filter/monitoring programs when my daughter is a little older.

As of now she is really only interested in Youtube Kids and I can lock her device to only that. It's incredibly annoying at times but not objectionable or whatever.

I'd try to keep them pure for as long as possible. Eventually they'd get it, but with time restrictions so they don't become one of those kids who have their head buried in a phone/tablet and the only physical activity that makes them feel happy is flossing.

So you're saying if you had kids you would only let them in the house to sleep and eat? Also any school work and homework that involves the internet(most these days) would be cast aside? Interesting. Personally I'd let them play out with their friends and use the internet. Crazy I know!

That's creepy as hell.

I'd want my kid to be fully aware of how fucked up people are early on so it can be taught what's bad and how to avoid it while it's most receptive to my advice. I don't want them to see awful crap, get a traumatizing experience and want to keep it secret. I want them to come to me and learn how to avoid nasty stuff while still utilising the internet as effectively as possible.
