And if so, why? Personally I'd rather a sequel to Octopath that fixes its issues

Or do what everyone actually wants, which is FFVI remake with Octopath engine.

How does this fit in with Bravely Second?

Yes I'm hyped, because the Bravely games are good and thus more Bravely games is also good. Another Octopath would be good too, but it can come later. It's Bravely's turn again.

Also I don't think I will ever understand why people want FFVI in Octopath style. It would just be the same exact game but now with depth kinda. What's the point? Actual 3D remake or bust.

Think of it like Final Fantasy numbering conventions. Bravely Second is Bravely Default I-2.

Never played either, so no. But, SE is using the same team for both iirc so we may hear about a new Octopath after BD2.

Hell yeah. BD was awesome and I'd love a good sequel.

Also, Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler are both made by different studios. Why are you bringing them up together? The Bravely games aren't even developed by Square...

This is a stupid idea.

Again, the two studios have nothing to do with each other.

I'm hyped for more revo but i think the jump from the 3ds's screen resolution to HD isn't doing the game any favors visually

Oh. I thought Masashi Takahashi worked on both so I thought the teams were same/similar.

Well, okay, but then are you saying these are unrelated?

They're as related as FFX and FFVII

Square is saying it's a new world and new characters, but the previous games already established a multiverse and world hopping, so it's impossible to say for sure that it won't have any connections.

The debut trailer itself said "Produced by Team Asano (Bravely Default / Octopath Traveler)".

Oh, hm. What's the relationship between the two then? Is Silicon Studio dead?

Bravely Default was a game with cool ideas but bad execution, so I'd love to see what they can do with the series, especially since Bravely Second doubled down on the poor execution by removing the cool ideas and then creating a meme script.

You really don't want to know what I think about Bravely Default. It was so repetitive. And the fact the good ending requires people being really stupid. And the ending you get when you are smart is the "bad" ending.

this is technically true because the team we consider the developer of both series didn't become a full fledged team within square until after the release of Octopath, but to say they're different studios and that Square didn't develop Bravely is highly misleading and incorrect.

Bravely was a low priority series for Square so the creative leads had to use outside contractors to help with development. the same was true of Octopath, but the creative leads hired a different studio. even now after the founding of a dedicated studio, Square have hired outside the company to help with Bravely Default 2. that's just how game dev works
