Frankly, the half of this I'll pay most attention to is the readability half, and Omega-Level mutants are the least interesting characters to read (aside from Legion). So drafting them is a strike against in that category!

I disagree it depends how their used!

If you're using Jean Grey and Storm, you are asking to write retreads with those characters.

Fair. Thankfully only 3 of 5 make the list.

Yeah there's no over-powered nature there, and the rules (which I'll present tomorrow; I wasn't going to do cuts tonight but people were already discussing it) will preclude gaming the system with them anyways.

My biggest concern was "hey, guess what number 16, you get TWO powerful psychics that inherently make each other stronger." Like I said since I first brought them up is I'm wondering how they'll be dealt with. Though, as you mentioned, the smart move is probably just to not draft them at all.

I actually think the best move here is to make a coherent and compelling team for the readability side, and then focus on fighting after you've built that. And don't forget you can make trades!

I'm personally cool with being the guy who knows nothing but 90s cartoons, some random lore bits and pieces through osmosis (enough to know why Hope Summers is banned for example), and some Wolverine/Gambit comics I've read over the years.

I'm not very up to date with X-Men these days but almost anything in the past, like pre-2013, I'm knowledgeable with.

Rules:

1) There are 16 players. Each player will draft 10 characters through a randomly-ordered snake draft.
2) After each player has drafted their team, they must choose a team leader and a team name. Team names must have either "X" or "Mutant" in the name.
3) Players are divided into two divisions. Each week, Monday-Friday, players will face one opponent in two categories. These categories are: "Fight" and "Pitch".
4) Anyone who is not involved in a specific match can vote for either team in either category. The player with the most votes in one of the categories will get a win in said category.
5) After each player has faced seven opponents, the players with the best "Fight" records in each division will face off and the players with the best "Pitch" records will face off.
6) Rosters each week will be made up ONLY of 6 members of the team. Every character must be active against at least three distinct opponents. Every character must also be inactive against at least three distinct opponents.
7) Each player should, at some point during the week, post about why they believe their team would win in a fight, and also repost (or write a new) pitches for what their team is meant to be.
8) Pitches should be judged based on whether the concept sounds compelling and has storytelling potential for a regular series.
9) On Saturdays and Sundays, between rounds, players may make one-for-one trades with any other player.
10) Rosters must always house exactly ten members.

I think this covers all of the rules I have planned for this. If something is confusing or you want more clarification, whatever, hit me up.

Draft starts at 10 AM Central tomorrow. You have one hour from the previous pick to make your own pick. We'll end the first day of drafting at 9 PM Central time. If you believe you could be unavailable at some point during this day, feel free to send me planned draft pick orders. If a pick is made and you do this, I will wait about 15 minutes before posting just in case.

Let me know if this is amenable to you. We'll keep traditional daytime hours (10-9) for the entire draft.

The only thing I want to stress about lists is that I will stay extremely true to them, so if you want that freedom to play with the board, don't send one.

I assume most people are really only sending lists for the first pick anyways.
