I really want to see this but holding of because I heard it is quite disturbing in parts.

It sounds like a show that would be better if watch at home where I can pause and catch my breath at times

Sometimes super intense violence bothers me and at home if know something is about to happen I sometimes will pause it and then come back when I am ready

But it sounds REALLY good from what I hear

Michael Jackson has been dead for 10 years and he just picked up two new cases!

On topic: I totally agree, Jen. The portrayal of Thomas Wayne is what I would imagine, realistically, hed be like.

I think everyone can relate to Arthur on some level. And it might have been Joachims greatest performance... and that says A LOT.

For me, though, the part that broke me was him reading the records and finding out what had happened to him as a child at the hand of his moms BF. That had me truly feeling for the character as if he was real.

I... kinda wanna watch it again.

Just saw it and enjoyed it. Liked how Joker believed he was Thomas Waynes son and how in a way him and Batman are both very similar. I did feel like they may have made his character a little too crazy in the beginning but by the end it all tied together nicely. Overall good standalone origin story. I dont think hell win any awards but Phoenix at least deserves a nomination.

The plot itself was actually pretty meh, but yeah Joaquin Phoenix did an amazing job. Better than heath ledger though, I dont think so, Heath ledgers joker just seemed so much more developed, but thats probably cos this is an origin movie and hes Arthur for most of the film and only becomes joker towards the end.

Great movie! But better then ledger... not in agreement. Still, great movie and Phoenix was awesome!

People will always blame media for violence. It is not books, comics, movies, music, games, etc.. that are at fault for people having mental health issues. When was the last time someone dressed up like batman and went out fighting crime? Honestly, it might have happened at some point, but it would be rare, but super hero movies are very common. People acting as if seeing a violent movie will make you violent should see how it would be if you reversed it. Do watching superhero movies that focus on good guys and good morals make people who watch them act that way? No. If that were true, in the 80's, it would have been common for people to be attempting to jump to helicopters and walk barefooted on glass to save a person's life.

I was legitimately pleased by this movie which I wasn't expecting. I'm starting to feel like DC and Marvel are now doing a switch.

Marvel's movies are, for the most part, all well put together and what not - but I can't help but get bored by them these days. There's been so god damn many of them and they largely follow the same plot structure and movie beats. Every time I see one now, I'm just thoroughly meh'd out by them. At this point, I legitimately could not care less about the Marvel universe anymore. At the end of the first...whatever...season of Marvel movies I feel like I don't ever need to see another one.

On the flip side, DC has put out both Joker and Shazam which I thoroughly enjoyed and felt refreshed by rather than just feeling like I didn't need to see them again.

Hopefully they can keep it going.

He wasn't even really playing the joker. The hook that sold him on the movie was Todd Phillips telling him they'll sneak in a "real movie" under the guise of a comic movie and it honestly does seem like a script that originally had fuckall to do with comics and was adapted to be a comic story. It's a pretty good movie and Phoenix was fantastic in it, but he wasn't a great joker.

Also even if he was he still wasn't better than Ledger.

I agree. Deniro was in this movie. Think of Taxi Driver. The Joker could have be could have been called "The Clown Guy" and and it would have been just about the same movie without having anything to do with DC or the Joker.

Yes. A film about a mentally insane "clown" that caused a uprising by DC shouldn't have been called "The Joker" at all because reasons! Besides even if this film was actually cannon that would be fine as the joker doesn't have a definitive origin story. This is why there is so much freedom in doing one based on him.
