I know the FDA uses that figure, but I used a calorie calculator with my specifics and it also comes out to about 2,000 minimum to gain weight.

I used to think I eat a lot, but perhaps not. I made 2 grass-fed burgers today and they only amount to about 600 calories.

I think that a lot of people eat heavy on carbs which normally jumps up the calories eaten compared with how much you actually eat.

I recently dropped 40 pounds by just eating less. Im 24 so I didnt really need to change my diet and get rid of all junk food or whatever, I just had to eat less of it.

Now Im trying to bulk and its honestly a pain in the ass. I dont like eating a lot, but without a calorie surplus, you dont build muscle. Annoying.

My stance on people who run long distance is do they know they dont have to?

Also I started typing this long post about how if you do everything right thats an overblown issue nowadays but I stopped halfway through cause I know some dudes who have been legit international marathon and Ironman competitors and yeah theyre knees are fucked.

I have been watching portion sizes and eating less carbs in general since January, dropped 60 lbs on a low-carb diet and eventually keto (225lbs to 165lbs) with minimal exercise. Usually ate one 1000kcal meal a day, mostly fat and protein with barely any carbs. Currently bulking with at least 120g of protein (600kcal) and 50g fat (450kcal) every day, anything else is carbs, which ranges anywhere from 60g to 200g, depending on whether or not I'm exercising.

I destroyed my knees playing basketball and skateboarding as a kid. You probably land on your heel when you run and just assume everyone is as lazy and poorly trained as you.

I eat about 3,000 while working out 4 times a week and my weight and strength in the gym has stabilized the last few months. I'll need to up it to get any stronger at this point.

Yeah, all of this is heavily dependent on your age, current weight, height, and gender.

Mine right now just to maintain is like 3,300. Been cutting way back on soda intake and eating more chicken/brown rice. Losing weight pretty fast
