It's an improvement over Smash 4 on the competitive side of things, but still needs a considerable amount of balancing.

I hear the single player stuff is pretty expansive so that's cool.

Not a fan of some of the visual changes. The smoke when you take knockback is bad. Lots of the animations are pretty choppy - Smash 4 looked smoother. But it's just a style that they went for, not necessarily a failure of the animators.

Lucina's entire existence is 100% pointless.

Lucario is smoothed out and looks great.

(Actually most of the furry characters got nice visual tweaks so I'm happy).

Competitively the game is mostly same but with a giant roster and things marginally improved for the better.

But where the game shines in comparison to Smash 4 is the single player. I couldn't even tell you what single player Smash 4 offered, but Ultimate brings an absolutely amazing single player experience. The best a Smash game has ever had to offer.

What did smash 4 offer for single player by the way?

It's still early and there's plenty of room for learning/argument but at first blush it seems like it could be the best Smash in general unless you're a diehard Melee player. IMO the single player is the best in the series beyond all argument.

i also lost to marth so i don't have him, while i do have lucina who plays pretty much identically

will say that daisy appears identical to peach, too, i.e. incredibly annoying to play against

Isn't Lucina better than Marth competitively? I see like 3 to 1 usage of Lucina compared to Marth

Frankly I'm far more annoyed at you guys specifically with this than the situation itself.

Like I play it up because it's super blatant on Nintendo's part, but when you guys actually come out and say that Marth should be the one to go in that situation, that's actually really fucking stupid.

Nah, Marth has practically zero character. One of the worst parts of FE1. Lucina was a lot more interesting in that sense. Better design too.

from a personal standpoint I will absolutely take the cute girl who's easier to play and was one of my favorites in her game over the dude that I don't think has ever had a game in my language

The thing that's weird about FE characters is the fact that there's essentially four versions of Marth, considering Roy started out as Fire Marth and both of them got echoes.

There's also the fact that that the most well-known aspect of FE is that there's a weapons triangle, and they chose to have seven characters that all use swords.

Soz if u already knew this, but there's a door on the bottom right hand side of the blue menu screen. If you lose a challenger approaches fight, you get to rematch them there after 10 minutes or so of losing the previous match.

I didn't know this until about 4 days ago where I unlocked about 10 characters in ola 15 mins. The matches feel a bit easier and you get to chouse your fighter pre match.

Also lucina is gr8. She's popular the most fire emblem character after ike, and that was before she even made as smash game. Well deserving of a spot in the game. Sorry your upset someone else's waifu made it in over yours.

i can also totally understand being irked by lucina. it's cool when a character is unique. clones devalue both themselves and the character they clone.
