Raka_Putra 12/24/18 6:17:34 PM #1:	Welcome all! No matter you won big time or lost miserably in the last contest, we're glad to have you here. Hang out and be merry in this cool community. But if you're new here, it can get a bit confusing so here are some things you might need to know about us: 1. Though this is a Contests board primarily, it is also a social board especially during the off-season. You can talk about most anything! If you still want your fill of the contests though we always have some stats discussion topic where you can extrapolate a character's strength by crunching numbers through a very intricate Excel sheet. 2. GameFAQs Contests is also called Board 8 (due to the URL) or B8 for short. Regulars are called B8ers (rhymes with haters). 3. B8ers are relatively old, internet-wise. Most of us are in our late 20s to mid 30s. The oldest one is a dragon called norenxaq who's like 60. Many of the regulars have been here since the earliest days of GameFAQs. Most of us are guys and there are some girls too, play nice with everyone. 4. We're big on board projects, like let's plays, rankings, and Save Mys. Save My is a board game/project format where there's a list of things/characters/etc. and you can save them (by posting who you want to save) until only one is left, then the unsaved item is eliminated, until only one is crowned the winner. Try it out! It's fun and drama-free, especially Save My Final Fantasy Characters and Save My Disney Characters. 5. Other notable, long running B8 board games are Mercenaries (Mercs for short) and Mafia. Mercs is like arguing who will win between Goku and Superman but with some accounting. And Mafia is like the werewolf party game only people will call you nasty names and it runs for two months. 6. Politics have its own board flair because it's a very contentious topic here. We have a Politics containment topic so you can go there and...mingle. As expected, a lot of B8ers are leftists but there are some very energetic rightists as well. 7. We also have a user merit contest called User of the Year (UoTY) which is very prestigious and beloved by all. If you are crowned UoTY, nobody on B8 would say bad things about you and all your topic will reach 500 posts. 8. Notable users include: - Steiner: UoTY winner and the patron for B8 Discord. - Ulti: He likes to talk about the contests' results a lot also some people say he's mean but since I blocked him I don't think he's been very mean at all! - SirChris: He's pretty good at Mafia. - LusterSoldier: Our resident state-mandated robotic overseer. - GuessMyUserName (GMUN): The tech guy who hacked GameFAQs back in 1999 so we can do things like have our topic automatically bumped and such. - Vlado: A guy from Bulgaria or something who speaks English really well! - SBAllen: Apparently he's a mod or something, that's pretty cool!
