Board 8 > Gauging Interest in Ranking All the CBX Characters by Strength

I'm planning to run a project where every day (or every two or three days once the holidays start in earnest), I will present a tier of CBX characters who are (roughly) on a similar strength level, and anyone who wants to can rank them based on strength (indirect preferred, but direct allowed). Then, once all the tiers of characters are ranked, we'll have an idea of where Board 8 thinks everyone is at. And yes, I know KP's adjusted X-Stats are already out, but X-Stats don't always accurately depict how strong characters are in relation to one another, for various reasons.

Why must the characters be segregated into specific tiers, you ask? It's simple - 134 characters (discounting the two who are obviously ahead of or behind the rest) is an awful lot to rank, whereas anywhere from 5 to 20 characters depending on the tier will be a lot more manageable, hopefully without compromising accuracy. The tiers I'm planning on using are the following:

- Elites (5 characters)
- Near-Elites (15 characters)
- Upper Midcarders (11 characters)
- Midcarders (19 characters)
- Lower Midcarders (19 characters)
- Fodder Line (15 characters)
- High Fodder (20 characters)
- Fodder (20 characters)
- Low Fodder (10 characters)

Please post here if you're interested in submitting rankings for such a project (write-ups not necessary - only do them if you want), as well as whether we should start from the top or the bottom (excluding Link and Draven) if so. If there's enough interest, I'll put up the first ranking topic tomorrow.

It's supposed to be based on which character you think is stronger, in terms of contest strength. For an indirect example, if you think Shantae would fare worse than John Marston against a neutral opponent in a contest match despite liking her more, you would rank John Marston ahead of Shantae.

Whoops, my bad. Yes, you don't need to do actual math to participate. Maybe look at certain characters' CBX results if you're unsure.

With the interest so far, I can confirm that this project is officially a go, and I will post the first ranking topic sometime tonight. One question for those who have already voiced their interest (and also anyone else who wants to participate), though: would you rather see us start off with the Elites and work our way downward from there, or would you prefer we start off with the Low Fodder and advance upward from there?

Also, as I garbled my way to saying to Anagram above, you don't need any advanced stat or other mathematical knowledge to participate, just a general idea of what CBX's results have been and a willingness to rank moderately-sized groups of characters. This isn't meant to be a super serious project, after all!

I'm guessing the elites are Link, Cloud, Zelda, Mario, and Samus and the Near-Elites are Pikachu, Mega Man, Snake, Crono, Sonic, Sephiroth, Ganondorf, Tifa, Alucard, Bowser, Auron, Kirby, Luigi, MMX....... Vivi?

Imo Snake is much closer to the Top 5 than any of the ones below.

Yoshi > Auron unless you'd put Sonic on par with Crono/Mega Man/Pikachu.

And Pikachu's results project Zero to be worth 48% on Yoshi but if you keep the second tier to 15 I'd guess Zero, Auron, and Aerith narrowly miss out.
