I can't recall many characters that look like Shaco. There's one in this old PS1 fighting game and a boss in Donkey Kong 64.

I mean the jack in a box types, someone like Kefka belongs to a different design type.

Oh look another badass monster chick who they make into a white lady in every single one of her splash arts. This must be Riot's signature move. Pretty cool looking overall, and even my hatred for dragons isn't enough to drag her ranking down very much because her design is fairly awesome.

Championship Shy is notable one of the better looking alternate skins, but it would be so much better if every other skin wasn't "let's turn her into a normal looking human." Her ingame model looks pretty lanky and lithe despite the fact that her splash art makes her come across as a more imposing character, but whatever.

Overall pretty good stuff. Not sure if Shyvana was the other one people thought was going to break into the top tier, but I'll say she's not quite that good. There's even some more human looking characters I think are better. Having more cool monster splash arts would have helped her ranking but sadly...

Singed


I don't particularly love or hate this design. Singed is very middle of the pack for me. He's kinda ugly looking but that's not super related to his concept. He's a mad scientist but he doesn't have any particularly defining features so he's just sort of a normal dude that's smart because the lore tells you that he's smart.

Basically just some dracula looking guy with a bandaid over his mouth.

Singed is a guy who I feel like you'd probably have given some points for gameplay if you were familiar with the game

His entire gameplay is based around running around people with a poison cloud trail passively going that does damage over time and being hard to kill. It's delightfully obnoxious. Agree his design generally leaves something to be desired but it fits the character so I can't really hate it.

yeah Singed is my favorite champion, though a lot of that is for gameplay reasons. He plays literally nothing like any other champion in the game.

Also I think the only champs that move faster than him on average/spec more into move speed are Rammus and Hecarim. Which is always fun.

I remember I laughed when reading Singed's abilities. Flip the enemy? lol what a stupid move. Oh if only I'd knew.

Sion


An undead giant fitting the classic concepts of being large, wide, and good at close combat while being difficult to stop. To me this is like a cooler version of Mundo. Although Mundo is pretty lame, so...

Basically if you HAVE to make an undead juggernaut it should at least be imposing and dark looking, not a goofball cartoon character.

Sivir


The mistress of battle is another regular old human fighter lady. Her pizza delivery skin is kinda funny but I don't have much to say about her beyond that. Honestly probably one of the less interesting generic females to appear on the list so far, and this is despite the fact that I think giant shuriken are awesome.

Skarner


A giant scorpion that is a playable character for some reason. Honestly this looks more like a random monster you'd encounter in the hallway between important rooms in the dungeon, and he's worth about 2 EXP, but hey... what do I know?

Guess you can't judge someone based entirely on their appearance. Actually, you can, because that's what this topic is all about. Probably the saddest thing here is that 'generic random monster' is still cooler than a bunch of characters at the bottom of the list.

Sona


Something I have to admit, which I'm sure will make some people not so happy... I've always thought bards were really, really corny. Like the idea of somehow playing music to impact battle is just so inherently wrong and impractical I really can't get behind it. I think some people have a part of their brain that is like 'oh that idea is so ridiculous and that's why it's cool.' That part of my brain is missing.

Anyway, harp lady has a nice design but the idea of her somehow affecting the battle with an instrument is just too goofy for me to take seriously. I'm not sure if it's better or worse in this instance since they are trying to play it straight with the whole magic instrument thing rather than her just being some goofball rogue who runs around playing a lute during combat to 'buff' his allies.

Some of her splash arts make her look very tall, and she gets some bonus points from that. But I know she's a regular human so she can't really be all that tall now can she?

crazy to think how close I am to being finished now but at the same time there are a TON of champs in the letter S and T so it's been pretty demotivating.. plus I usually have a harder time updating on weekends anyway...

The Starchild is a nonhuman lady with a cool, unique skin color who... unfortunately has a way too cute-sy looking face that makes her look just a bit weird to me. I guess it's pretty well established at this point that I don't like "cute" things very much but really she has like those huge anime eyes and very child like facial features. Her design is fairly interesting and not as generic as many of the others, which helps a lot, and her nonhuman bonus is still worth something, but overall what it comes down to is that I don't particularly "like" her very much. Which counts a lot for a topic where I'm ranking them based solely on my first impressions!

Also her ingame model has really skinny legs and arms so I have to at least make fun of her twig body.

Swain


His face literally reminds me of Frollo from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Ignoring his alternate splash arts, which look quite a bit different, this guy is basically if Frollo was actually a badass warrior general instead of a simpering coward. I don't particularly love old characters, and I generally prefer the aesthetics of young characters that I can relate to more, but I like most of everything else about his design aside from that. Cool armor set, interesting fire hand with pointy fingers, I think these will be enough to give him a fair ranking despite his oldness.

Alright, I'm gonna admit, I doubted you guys. Update before last, I thought maybe you were talking about Shyvana. Shy is pretty good but not exactly there, she can't really take it to the limit. Then, as I was writing this, I'm thinking, surely they couldn't have meant Soraka. Yes, sure, Soraka is a nonhuman character with purple skin, but at the same time she is way too cute looking. They would know that I wouldn't like such a cute character. I thought, maybe, after all this time, after hundreds of posts, maybe you guys didn't really know me at all.



Despite being a merely magically altered human, I think Syndra might be my favorite on the list so far. She's definitely top tier material and I'm thinking more about her exact placement. I love her aesthetics, her personality, her concept. I wouldn't say her design is perfect by any means but I haven't seen any so far that were PERFECT. What I can say is that it was at least striking enough to make me immediately take notice, and I actually read more of the details on her biography and checked more of her voice lines than I do for the average character on this list.



I guess, more than monsters, more than demons of any kind, it turns out, my favorite types of characters are just insane and evil bad girls that look obviously dark and menacing. Oh, also, her Star Guardian splash is BY FAR the best one of the Star Guardians.



Of her legacy skins one looks like a persona character and the other is, as far as I'm aware, one of the few instances where a normal human lady was transformed into a hot monster lady. Good job, riot. Finally giving the fans what we've been asking for all this time... (Well, however long ago that legacy skin was added...)

Looks like we've got a new champion, and the difference almost solely comes down to just the Star Guardian skin being so great. Damn she looks so cool, evil, and sexy. Enough said.

I can't find the video of it, but there was an incident in professional play some time last year where the Syndra missed every single one of her actual aim-requried Q/W/E skills, but pressed R (The only skill she has that you can just point+click instead of having to aim) and 100-0'd the enemy AD Carry anyways.

It was, uh, 'quite bullshit', as they say.

I'm a Kog 1 trick ad but my secondary role is mid, which I Syndra 1 trick. She's my favorite female character in the game definitely, looks-wise and gameplay wise (yes there are plenty of more obnoxious characters than her imo fight me about it). She wasn't who I thought would break the top tier but I'm not disappointed!

Also the one I thought would be top tier hasn't shown yet.

the best thing soraka has going for her is that because of her archetype and association with bananas there is a very sizable amount of fanart that draws her with a dick. it's a shame she's so boring for me to play because otherwise she would be easy top 10. as it stands, she probably only breaks top 30.
