As of episode 32

Homare>Hana>Lulu>Saaya>Emiru

Lulu had a really strong character arc. But had kind of fallen off since. Homare has stayed strong consistent. Hana is still too fun. Saaya is just there, and I don't really care much for Emiru.

My rankings would go Hana > Homare > Lulu > Emiru > Saaya at this point. After their story arc ended, I agree that Emiru and Lulu did fall off quite a bit. It feels like each of their characters depends on the other a bit too much, to the point where they don't have many meaningful interactions with anyone else. Lulu isn't affected by it as much as Emiru though. I can't say that Homare passed Hana for the top spot, but I agree that she solidly jumped ahead of the others into second place.

Watched Yokai Watch Shadowside up to episode 7, so far so good. I mean, its nothing elaborate so far, but the show is pretty cute overall, and Im really liking the Yokai redesigns and the new dynamic between Micchi and Whisper.

And Episode 5 in particular is the same story as YW4s gameplay demo. The episodes battle was adapted well into game form, Id say. And the anime episode also revealed another Yokai possession user, which hints that (game) Touma will be getting more options down the line.

And on a side note, I looked some stuff up and found that the original Yokai Watch anime series didnt even adapt the games major story arcs. Kind of a shame, but that also means Im not really missing much from not watching all of it, I guess. Ill probably look for the episodes with my favorite Yokai and just watch those.

They're in completely different continuities, but the anime is technically "ahead" at this point.

The original anime series and first three movies are based on the first three games, with the first movie adapting a story arc from the second game, and movies 2 and 3 being based on the third game. But it doesn't have a real continuous plot or anything like that, from what I know.

Then there's movie 4 and the Shadowside series, which take place after the original series. They're completely anime original so far, but will be covered in the upcoming fourth game. What happened to the original series' main characters during the timeskip hasn't been explained in any form yet, but that will be covered in the fourth game as well.

I see it, face paint and all. Pisard seriously feels like a David Bowie knockoff. I'm not sure if that was a connection the creators of the show were trying to make, but the dub gave him an English accent, so at least the localization team saw the connection. Anyways, after the first four episodes of Futari Wa Precure, I'm really digging it so far.

Nagisa (Natalie in the English dub I'm watching) and Honoka (Hannah in the dub) are both fun characters, though I think Nagisa is more enjoyable so far. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole "they can't transform unless they're together" thing yet, but I'm liking the character dynamic between the two of them. The art and animation looks pretty good for a show from 15 years ago, and it doesn't feel too dated watching it now. The first few fight scenes have been really well-animated, and each individual punch and kick that lands look like they have a lot of impact behind them, moreso than the other more recent Precure series I've watched. The Marble Twister looks amazing as a special move too.





It's off to a good start. Also, I'm a huge sucker for the early 2000's anime reaction face aesthetic, and this show will have no shortage of them.

I finished cardcaptor clear card. it was... not great. even setting aside its extremely weak ending (it just sorta stops without concluding anything, combined with the weird number of episodes I almost thought I missed something) it has a ton of issues.

Last time I brought it up I said that it didn't really change/modernize at all, but after watching more of it I realized that's not quite true. It did modernize, just in a not very good way. I feel like the current trend for magical girls is either really grim and edgy, or super slice of life cute girls doing cute things + magic. It obviously couldn't do the first, so it went for the second, writing most of the male characters mostly out of the story. Her brother barely ever shows up. The guy she had a crush on barely does anything. Her mentor/guardian is off in europe the whole time and doesn't even answer the phone. Even the main male romantic lead gets shoved aside in favour of cooking scenes and other cutesy stuff. Most of the time he just shows up right at the end of the episode with some lame "sorry I wasn't here earlier" and him and sakura barely ever have any conversations of any decent length at all. It feels like the romance has taken multiple steps backward and then been hidden out of sight and it sucks.

they also really messed up tomoyo since now like 95% of her personality is wanting to film sakura (it used to be maybe 50-60% max) and she's just one note and super boring. So yeah, there's another change, but again a change for the worse.

I don't want to only hate on it, because it's not completely awful and there are definitely worse shows out there. But the big issue is that it's extremely similar to the first series, and when I compare them at all it comes out on the bottom in almost every way (the animation looking a lot nicer is probably the only thing it has over the previous seasons). And I can't not compare it either, since everything it does just reminds me of it. A significant amount of the bgm is lifted straight from the first series, not remixed or redone or anything. The locations all look the same, the characters look and sound the same, the plot is structured the same way, a lot of the individual events are the same to an almost uncanny degree. They graduated and went to a new school but it doesn't feel like it at all, since everyone's still doing the same things at the school, all the important school features (lawn to eat lunch, soccer field, out-of-the-way bench) are all just how they were before, and even their uniform looks the same

The way I see, the total non-ending is just them basically guaranteeing that we'll get another season. I agree with you that Clear Card was inferior to the original in just about every way besides the art and animation, and I agree that some of the characters (like Tomoyo) were completely flanderized from what they were in the original.

But IMO, it was still pretty good. I gave the original a 9/10, and I still gave Clear Card an 8/10.
